How do you feel about the movie? What was your reaction when you first watched the trailer to the movie? What scene do you look forward to the most in the movie?

Bella | 3 comments I loved the movie trailer. I feel like there was so much detail given in those few minutes that people who have read the book will truly appreciate. I cannot wait to see the movie. I hope that the movie doesn't turn out horrible, but I have a feeling it is going to be terrific!

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Ikr! I cried so much during the trailer and my hearts breaks a little when I see the trailer on the tv cause I'm so excited! :')

message 4: by Bella (new)

Bella | 3 comments Me too! I can't wait to see the movie! I'm so excited, I'm sure it's going to be amazing!

message 5: by Nil (new)

Nil I was of course thrilled when the trailer finally came out, since hype of it would put a hint here and there. I've seen clips and extended trailers for the movie and I feel that for once, a movie is following the book- dialogue and setting wise. I love Shailene as the character for Hazel and even though Im a visitor to Ansel's acting, he seems to fit the role of Gus. I'm not to picky when it comes to casting- it's mainly if they can get the same emotions and story from the book to the screen. But yes... I'm excited :)

message 6: by Bella (new)

Bella | 3 comments I totally agree, I'm sure Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort will be amazing. I can't wait to see them bring Hazel and Gus to "life."

message 7: by Nil (new)

Nil Haha. I sort of just let my tears fall in the messiest way possible. Hopefully it won't happen when I actually see the the film, maybe safer when on DVD.

message 8: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Gabriel | 2 comments I saw an advance screening of fault and I loved it. It stuck really close to the book. Yes some stuff was taken out, mostly some of my favorite quotes. But overall, it was a very amazing movie, cinematography was great, the acting was great, everything was great.

message 9: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 4 comments I saw the trailer before I read it. But yea really gives you the feels. Can't wait to see it June 6. My favorite part will probably be when Augustus says I love it when you talk medical to me or when he says maybe okay can be our always.

message 14: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 2 comments I just saw the movie last night and it was AMAZING! The cast was perfect, and the script was so accurate. I think this may have been the best book-to-movie film I've ever seen! Literally everyone in the theatre was crying. You just can't watch this movie without bawling your eyes out! As a true, and dedicated fan of the book, I am so pleased with the movie. It was absolutely phenomenal!

Maddy Simms | 13 comments OMG this just makes me more excited!!! x

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah D I actually saw the movie with @Nicole! Everything she said are exactly my thoughts! I had never cried so much at a movie before, but there was a reason for it! I was saving it for this one. From the moment Gus tells Hazel he has cancer again, the tears didn't stop. I think there is something about seeing everything unfold, and hearing the words out loud that made it even more sad than the book. Overall though, the movie was fantastic!!!

message 17: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Simms | 13 comments Going to see it today! Wish me luck! xxx

message 18: by Sarah (new)

Sarah D @Maddy, you will love it!

And in the dad parts of course!!

message 22: by Maddy (new)

Rachel | 13 comments I read the book in one day - on Thursday - and then saw the advance screening The Night Before Our Stars. Oh my goodness! What an emotional night for me!

I thought the cast was brilliant! They are all such great actors... Ansel brought Gus to life just like I had hoped, and the same with Shai as Hazel! Such a great movie! I went alone because a group of my friends are going this weekend and they didn't want to see it twice... man did I cry! I have honestly NEVER cried that much in a movie before!
I lost it when Gus told Hazel his cancer was back - just like I did in the book. I also broke down during the eulogy scene in the church - it really showed how talented the cast is!
I have heard a lot of people focusing on the eulogy scene and how what Hazel said was so amazing... and while that it true I think people also need to focus on Isaac! I broke down when he started talking... I only hope I have a friend like that... one that doesn't want to see a world without me; gosh I'm tearing up writing this!

I can't wait to see it again Friday night :)

Rachel | 13 comments Valerie wrote: "I want to see the movie SOOOO bad!!!! My friend already went to see it so I don't know what I'm going to do without a friend."

I saw it alone... yes ALONE! Oh my goodness I so wish that I would of had someone beside me... it was heartbreaking! I am seeing it again this weekend but this time with friends ;)

message 34: by Elle (new)

Elle | 1 comments Just saw it last night and surprisingly, I didnt' cry as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, I still cried (quite a bit) but when I read the book, I sobbed. I was inconsolable - it felt like my heart was being ripped out.

But I agree, this was probably one of the best adaptatios of a book I've ever seen and the acting was amazing.

You have to! It is a definite must see! Sure :) Shailene Woodley. She was soooo fantastic!

message 41: by Carla (new)

Carla Pereira | 2 comments I watched the movie before I read the book bad idea I know. During the movie all I thought about was getting the book. I got the book a few days ago and can't stop reading it. The movie to some people may seem a cliche love story but it has it's twists to see how far one would go for the person they truly love . I knew Augustus was going to die but I felt in a way they could have played it in a different sense. Maybe more closure for Hazel.

message 42: by Heather (new)

Heather (duffster87) | 2 comments The movie was freaking amazing! I was a little skeptical about Shailene Woodley playing Hazel but she did absolutely phenomenal. All the casting was phenomenal. I literally started crying at the opening credits because I was so excited. It was a very well done book-to-movie! Everything was almost exact. I can't even choose a favourite part!

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay guys, I'm off to see the movie now and I'm so excited! I'm definietly not ready to see the movie and I will become an emotional wreck after this but still, I'm soooo excited. Been waiting for this movie for so long now!
Bye :)

message 44: by Carla (new)

Carla Palmeiro (carlapalmeiro) | 1 comments Just saw the movie and I literally cried the entire time! I was a little bit skeptical about it because the book is simply heartbreaking and flawless but truly words cannot express the beauty of this movie, it was a perfect adaptation of the book, one that really does it justice. Go see it please!!

Also, EVERYBODY was crying, I was a mess afterwards and had to go to the toilet to compose myself!!

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

I was a big mess too! I started to cry when Agustus told Hazel that he loved her... The cool thing about the movie was that the producers (and John) did not make the movie all sad and depressing, they mixed it up with happiness, love and comedy! SPOILER ALERT: i also really liked that the storyline with Agustus ex-girlfriend was cut off from the movie because that was a little thing that just didn't fit in the book :)

message 46: by Rachel (new)

I agree with you Alicia! It was such a great movie and so well done! And honestly, while I was watching it I totally forgot that there was a part in the book about his ex-girlfriend.

Rachel | 13 comments Hey everyone -- this is not a question or comment about the movie but since I am sort of new to Goodreads I was wondering if anyone knew if I could block someone from sending me messages?? Please message me with any advice; thanks!

Lana (lana13) | 3 comments The movie was perfect! It totally met my expectations. My favorite wuote was: “You see, we may not look like much but between the three of us we have five legs, four eyes and two and a half working pairs of lungs but we also have two dozen eggs so if I were you, I would go back inside.”
