Marina and Finn are talking to Nate, James's brother who got shot, in his comatose state when he wakes up and begins to try and talk. Finn runs out to get a doctor while Marina tries to communicate with Nate. Through this he signs her a CT for Connecticut and something about AIR, which she interprets as something is in James and Nate's Connecticut home where he was working on a case for the past couple of weeks and that he needs air. After he passes out again, Marina talks to James and Finn and they decide to sneak out and investigate the home themselves. They drive out to the home and search around until they find papers on James and his research on time traveling. There are a bunch of copies of emails and James's notes as well as conversations with his teacher. The emails are from a higher investigator than the FBI or CIA, and his email address has AIR in it. It makes me wonder if maybe the government already knows James will create his time traveling machine like they traveled from the future to make sure it happens indefinitely. It also makes me question if Nate already knew what James would grow up to do and that's why he was shot, so he couldn't talk James out of it or like he had to be shot for it to trigger James to finish it at all. It's very shady and makes me think there's a corrupt government from the future involved in all of this. Or maybe the future evil James has come back and rigged it all already and that could be why attempts at stopping the building of the time machine have all failed. There are so many theories running through, it could be anything at this point.

So is that Nate guy one of those conspiracy theory guys, or does he actually have like a secret case that he is following? That's kinda shady that the government is shooting people that are making time machines.
I think the government might know that he has the time travelling thing, and they might try to use him and his Time Travelling thing for their own use.

I don't know for sure what his other role was besides gathering info like James's note and all that. Nate got shot while talking at an event secured by the people who guard the vice president, it's his death that pushes James to build the machine (I infer at least from what the characters are prompting.)
