Not really Dutch or German. As a World History Teacher, I participated in a student exchange in the 80's with a school in Bruhl, Germany in the suburbs of Cologne. We were housed with the families of students in the exchange. The German couple that was our hosts had a 6-year-old daughter. One day they took us to visit her grandmother and I loved hearing her call her grandmother Oma. So, I decided that if ever we were blessed with grandchildren that is what they would call us. We have two wonderful grandsons and two beautiful granddaughters and they call us Opa and Oma. My daughter especially likes this because when we are out shopping in a crowd she can always call out "Oma" and she knows I will answer. There are too many mamas and mothers but not Omas!
Why 15th century England? I am a History major with a special interest in British History. I am also a member of the Richard III society so the War of the Roses is a favorite era for me.
I really love the Wars of the Roses era too, Wanda. I also have a huge interest in Richard III. He is such a fascinating figure.

I have Precious and Grace on my small book case next to my bed. Have you enjoyed the series?
I am going to continue and in fact will be posting after this.( I just got behind in posting) I can say that the #1 Ladies Detective Agency has been one of the most enjoyable series for me. It is one of the few on which I am up to date and immediately read the newest one when available. Precious Ramotswe is a fantastic character. She seems to draw upon a wonderfully large understanding of human nature and always finds the positive. The characters in this series begin to feel as if they are family. I have read some of the books and listened to some and either way they are wonderful.
