My TBR is out of control and steadily getting worse thanks to Litsy. I'm looking forward to this challenge and a few others for motivation to get through the stacks on my shelves! I'd really like to climb a higher mountain, but starting here will give me space to buy and read new books next year, too

Just finished Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child which I bought last year. First step up the mountain completed!
Book #2 is done - I just finished the audiobook of Theft of Swords by Michael J. Sullivan. Great book. Looking forward to the sequel once I get through a few more books I already own. :)
Book #3 was Beastly Bones by William Ritter finished on 1/26 (forgot to add it here) and I just finished Book #4 - As You Wish by Cary Elwes. Disappointed by that one.
I've not done a good job of updating this, but in February, I read two other books for this: Alif the Unseen and Born a Crime, and earlier this month I finished Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. So, that puts me at 7, so far. I need to stop reading NEW stuff!
#8 - The Fallen Angel by Daniel Silva, finished 3/31/17#9 - Bird Box by Josh Malerman, finished 4/16/17
Finished #12 Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch in the wee hours of the morning. Half-way there! Unfortunately, I now have to add the rest of the Peter Grant series to my TBR. 😱
Just finished #13: The English Girl by Daniel Silva, which happens to be the 13th Gabriel Allen novel.
#14 is the 14th Gabriel Allon: The Heist. Finished 8/25. I really thought this climb would be fairly easy. I'm not doing such a great job. 🙄
Just finished #15 - The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith. I really did not expect Mont Blanc to be so difficult to reach, but there are so many good books and new releases that I can't resist! 😭
Actually, I just realized Cuckoo's Calling is #16. I finished Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime on 8/31 and forgot to log it here. 😊
#18 Murder on the Orient Express finished 12/4. I cant believe that out of 153 books, I’ve only managed to read 18 that I owned before 1/1. I’m not going to make 24. I must do better next year!!
Looking at the rules for 2018, I discovered that as long as you pre-ordered a book prior to 1/1/18, it counts. Assuming that rule is the same for 2017, and allowing for the fact that two of the books I reread in audio were books I borrowed more than 20 years ago, I can add a few more books to the list of what I've accomplished this year. I'm still 1 short, and as I am in the middle of reading a new book that I really enjoy, I think I'm just going to have to mark this year's challenge as "close, but no cigar" and try again in 2018.
