For many readers, January is a time where their world is covered in a frigid blanket of white and daylight is a scarce commodity. It can also be the setting for a truly horrific read. Our theme for January is any horror tale that has winter as it's backdrop.

So, please nominate which read you would like to read as a group that takes place in the winter. Voting will end on Christmas Day. So, cast your vote now. As always, authors please no self promotion.

Marie A Winter Haunting by Dan Simmons
I have been wanting to read this book and this would be perfect for the January theme, :)

Graeme Rodaughan Some option I would like to suggest is The Wolf's Hour by Robert McCammon , I would also like to second A Winter Haunting.

There are a lot of great options above.

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 44 comments Anything by Edward Lee!!

Jen from Quebec :0) (muppetbaby99) | 44 comments I *JUST* read MISERY (I re-read it in winter a lot) SO I will not re-read it AGAIN like 3 weeks later, but I will be able to pop in on debates and such if this is the winner....

But if this is GORE and more, not 'mental/psychological thriller' then EDWARD LEE is the man!

The Backwoods by Edward Lee

Edward Lee

Anna Willett | 26 comments I've not read anything by Edward Lee so I had a look at The Backwoods. I'll second Jennifer's vote. The Backwoods looks good.
