Silver Thistle (silverthistle) I joined last years group late and just watched all the fun from the sidelines so this is my first year taking part and I can't wait to get started! I'm a VERY slow reader so I'm hoping this thread will be an incentive to keep going as I see my total get closer to the finish line.

Mary | 709 comments Silver Thistle-you're very welcome to our little reading group.
Seeing as you joined last year, you'll already be aware that we are a fun and book loving gang where anything and everything is up for discussion.
We can be very serious but oft times it only takes one of us to go off on a tangent, and the rest,(some of us in particular), will follow suit!!
Looking forward to sharing thoughts on favourite books and beloved characters.

Thank you Mary. I'm looking forward to soaking up the atmosphere and getting to know everyone and everything. I'm really looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks of the books they get around to reading this year and finding some new titles to add to my shelves. I've started a new blog to keep track of it all too.

That's been on my radar since it was published. Sounds very interesting. Well done for the first notch on your belt!

Thanks :)

I have it in paperback and it's the size and weight of a housebrick. It took FOREVER to read but mostly it was because my arms got sore from holding it up, bahahah!

Great start.

Silver Thistle (silverthistle) When I've had time to think about it and get around to writing a review it might make for a 3.5 star read but for now I'm going with 3.

Two down, 98 to go.

1) Darcy By Any Other Name by Laura Hile
2) Pride and Pyramids by Amanda Grange

Just trying to decide which to read next from the shelves that I already own that matches both this challenge (obviously) and also my cover scavenger hunt challlenge...

3/100

I'm still struggling a bit in getting used to Darcy & Elizabeth when they're not cannon... any of the characters acting out of character really, but I hope I get better at it.

1 ) Darcy By Any Other Name by Laura Hile 4 stars
2) Pride and Pyramids by Amanda Grange 3 stars
3) A Walk in the Meadows at Rosings Park by Mary Lydon Simonsen 3 stars

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments Many of us will make comments when Darcy and Elizabeth are not the characters we know and love. There is a book which many read and reviewed last year in which Darcy rapes Elizabeth (in marriage)...I refuse to read any stories such as that. Darcy would NEVER rape or sexually molest any woman much less Elizabeth. I don't care for the excuse that he was on a journey of self discovery - rot!

Silver Thistle (silverthistle) Sheila wrote: "Many of us will make comments when Darcy and Elizabeth are not the characters we know and love. There is a book which many read and reviewed last year in which Darcy rapes Elizabeth (in marriage)....."

Wow, I definitely won't want to read that one! Which one is it?

message 19: by Mary (new)

Mary | 709 comments Sheila,I completely agree with you.
Could not and would not read it....ever!
Darcy and Elizabeth may be fictional characters, but in my heart they are real!
And no,irrespective of how much he's drunk or what demons he was battling, this scenario would NEVER happen.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments I can't remember the name of the book now but it was maybe 9 months ago that many were reading and reviewing it. I will have to ask Claudine as she was one who read it.

Silver Thistle (silverthistle) Abigail wrote: "Hope you get some five-star reads soon, Silver Thistle!"

Me too Abigail. I like the ones I've already read but haven't really loved any of them and I'd like to be gripped as I was by the original. Maybe my next one will be the one :)

Silver Thistle (silverthistle) Seem to have slowed down a bit now as my other interests clamour for attention but I'm managing a page or three here and there :)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 1301 comments We certainly understand that life has demands...we only want this to be a pleasant journey and will never question where you have been or why you are not reading. I, for one, have been getting over bronchitis and it cut deeply into my reading as my brain could not even think about focusing on a page. Take care and smell the roses.
