The medicine cat's ears twitched and put her paw on Fern

Fireheart sat there and murmured words of encouragement

Fern listened, taking his advice and trying to save her breath. The medicine cat watched one kit appear onto the nest. She licked it firmly and put it at Ferns belly. "A tom" she meowed. The healer didn't take her paw off of Fern, "I'll tell you when a kit is coming" Ferns body shook. "When it comes, lick it firmly and put it at her belly"

Fern squirmed as at the same time, two kits appeared on the nest. "Twins" Fern gasped proudly. The medicine cat gave one to Fireheart and licked the other. "One more" the wise cat told Fern. One more kit, a mix of Fire and Fern slithered out, crying. Fern felt relieved it was over.

Fireheart touched his nose to the medicine cats side and said, thank you. Then went back to fern and started purring and said, they're beautiful

Fern twined tails with Firehearts. "Now she must rest" Fern purred, licking the kits that were at her stomach. "They are beautiful, and their names are your choice"

Their names are: fireclaw, waterfall, riverripple, and flametail, fireheart said nuzzling her, and we already decided on the names remember?

Fern giggled weakly, "I remember, can't believe you remembered those names from when we first met or moons ago!" she closed her eyes and yawned. "Is it me or is it hard to stay awake..." She trailed off, snoring gently while purring. The kits had fallen asleep around her.

Fireheart smiled and licked her between the ears and said, sleep well ill stay watch

*the next morning* fireheart looked over at fern and said, goodmorning

Fern smiled, "Good morning" she licked Riverripple and gently moved the kit towards Fireheart. "They so beautiful, wait until they can see" she purred, "They'll be a pawful!"

Fireheart chuckled and said, they might listen to us but you never know

Fern looked mischievously at Fireheart, "Or their like you and adventure and cause trouble" she teased. "Riverripple is very calm but seems like Fireclaw likes his father" the tom kit was beginning to make his way to Fireheart and was squealing

Fireheart picked him up between his jaws and set him in between firehearts paws and licked him between the ears and said, they're perfect

Fern nodded, "They really are" she put the last two kits close to her. "And their finally asleep, you'd think their badgers when their awake!" she purred with amusement. "They'd make noisy apprentices for sure"

Fireheart chuckled and said with a shrug, who knows when they grow up they might become the best warriors in the forest like me

Fern nudged him gently, looking at him playfully, "Hmmmm, like you....." she pushed him over, making sure Fireclaw and Riverriple were out of the way. She gently picked the two kits up and laid them at her stomach. "Hail brought me a mouse earlier, and if you ever get a chance, please tell her I said thank you"

Fireheart licked her between the ears and said, of course

Fern licked his cheek, twining tails with him. "Thank you Fireheart" she licked her kits, "Their eyes will be open soon, and I hope you'll be here to see it happen"

I have asked moon for permission that i may take care of you while your are still in the nursery i have taken time off my warrior duties just to take care of you and the kits, fireheart said to her

Fern purred, "Oh Fireheart, that's so sweet of you" she pushed her muzzle into his fur. "Moon probably is in a good mood. Maybe happy about the little warriors" she giggled. "i hope she doesn't make them apprentices early"

I wont have them appernticed untill they are six moons of age

Fern rolled her eyes, "Fireheart, that's a long time but it seems like the correct age" she watched Riverripple roll around. "They wont like the wait"

They'll be fine ill spend time with them until they are apprenticed and then ill have moon help you and i teach them ourselves

Fern rolled onto her back, causing Flametail to cry. She licked the kit to calm him down before glancing at Fireheart. "Hmm, always claws sheathed" she'd have to tell Moon that. Fern allowed the kits to come back to her belly as she rolled back over.

Fern giggled cutely, "The strongest" she agreed. Her nose twitched with amusement, feeling his whiskers on her ear, it tickled. "That tickles" she purred, pulling away gently. Fern's happiness faded away, she slightly coughed. She wished that she could tell her family but she looked like a freak.

Fireheart, hearinthe cough suddenly sat up straight and said, im going to get the medicine cat. Reeart wento the leaders den and said, moon? Can you keep an eye on fern and the kits for me please? Im going to get hail to come check on them
