Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo! Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game
Hi team!Checking in and I'm so excited to play another round of bingo. I think this will be my 9th or 10th game ...
Some team name ideas -
Hard Eight - ( yes, I'm a Stephanie Plum fan, please don't judge :) )
Vertical Infinity
Fantasy Central
Hi! Nice to meet you :) I don't think we've played on the same team before. This is my 12th or 13th round I think. I have been in a bit of a slump this year, but the new rule about needing each shelf stamped should hopefully pull me out of it. I have a list of books ready and they are all books I want to read, so I am pretty excited to get started.
If anyone wants to be Captain please step up.
I used to be a Plum fan, no shame in that :)
Team names - I am hopeless at that part.
Eighth Wonder
Reading is our Superpower
Book Belle's
Happy Hogmanay to you all :)
I like The Eighth Wonder for a team name.and ...
Happy 2017 everyone! Many great books and what I do miss the most - lots of reading time!
Hello everyone, sorry I am a little late, I was checking religiously after sign-ups closed, and then got caught up in stuff for the holiday. I think over the years I have been on a team with each of you at least once :). I have no idea how many rounds I have played over the years, maybe 7-9? I love the new rule too!Just so you all know, I have no problem ever reading my one book a week, but this week, I might be a little quiet. I was laid off in November and just got offered a new job on Friday to start in a couple weeks. So now I am scrambling to get my paperwork etc turned into them and run errands before I no longer have my days free. If you all need to make a decision for our team without me, feel free. It shouldn't be a problem but wanted to give you a heads up. I would prefer not to be team captain since I am about to start the new job though.
For names, I really like Vertical Infinity and Eighth Wonder. I'm really excited to be playing Bingo again, I need to get my book reading back on track. I have not been enjoying some of my recent books at all, so some new recommendations will be great!
Heather ~ Marceline wrote: "Hello everyone, sorry I am a little late, I was checking religiously after sign-ups closed, and then got caught up in stuff for the holiday. No worries on the captain thing, getting real life settled is far more important.
Hi Heather and congrats!I hope you really like your new job and all goes well.
I've been in a kind of reading slump due to busy working schedule and really counting on Bingo to get me out of it.
Been eyeing new Thea Harrison book
and saving
for Bingo
Thank you all, I am really excited! I was at my last job over 15 years so it will be weird to work at a new place, but also fun to start somewhere new.I really need to do some looking at the shelves and figuring out some books. Right now my kindle library is flooded with all my ARE book purchases I just redownloaded before they closed, but I've read all those.
Hi everyone. finally back to normalcy after the holidays. looking forward to getting back into Bingo. love the new rule. Jan to April is my busy season for taxes. I have a few books saved to hopefully read for this round. Moonshadow is one of them. also will be reading the Elemental Assassin series. recently got two kittens and they sure are a delight. will be back later after I have my coffee.
Hi ladies, nice to see everyone here. I am sure you will settle in in no time, Heather.
Congrats on the kittens, Rosina. I sure miss having a kitty round the house (my two went over the rainbow bridge last year, at 18 & 19yrs old it wasn't entirely unexpected). We since got a puppy, she's an energetic 18months now and the reason why I took up reading audiobooks.
Skandia - do you want to Captain? If not I can do it. Nothing totally pressing just now that will stop me checking in often.
The ARe thing is a bit of a nightmare. I was totally floored and have no idea what to think. I have read and enjoyed her books and now hoping she breaks her silence to get it sorted. The posts on fb are just ridiculous.
I plan to read some Elemental Assassin books this time round also. My tbr pile has grew already... so thanks ;)
Morning Now fueled with some coffee and breakfast...
Michelle I don't think we have had the pleasure of meeting....Hello!
Heather & Skandia we have been on teams before.....
Sorry to hear about your job loss...that can be tough 15 years wow....hope your new job turns out to be just what you need....
What are ARE books? Oh wait is that the romance site that went bust? I think I read Sandra posting about it....
Have a great day everyone...chat soon....
What is your favorite series and why?
Mine is Nalini Singh PsyChangeling......love the world building and her writing....think I will starting #7....

I don't think we have either :)
You sure know how to ask tough questions. I don't really have 1 favourite series to be honest. It used to be the Stephanie Plum books then it was the Elemental Assassin series, but right now i don't have one go to favourite series. I can tell you that Nalini is in my top 3 authors though. I am listening to the Demonica series just now on audio. It's definitely in my top 10 series. I could give you a top 10 easily, but the number 1 spot is debatable :)
Hi Rosina! Nice to be on a same team again!@Michelle - absolutely nothing against you being our fearless captain!
Favorite series right now - Elder Races by Thea Harrison , The Others by Anne Bishop and maybe Kate Daniels. It took me a couple of books to really get into the Kate Daniels series but now it's so good!
I'm at book #5 currently, so there is few more to go.
Skandia wrote: "Hi Rosina! Nice to be on a same team again!@Michelle - absolutely nothing against you being our fearless captain!

I love Kate Daniels, have the newest one saved for bingo.
Okydoky, anyone have any thoughts on names for our team?
Have you all set a reading challenge for this year? I have went for 75, long gone have my years of 260 books. I found it easier when my kids where little unfortunately.
SOS was my first group that I joined.....had never read any series books or PNR, UF....I jumped right in and played Bingo...I was hooked...
My first series I read was The Fever Series....devoured them in a week....haven't gone back to it....
Then I read Demonica series....yummy....
both those series I should do a re read and get caught up
I then read some Mercy Thompson, Jeanine Frost, and then bounced around from series to series never really getting Wowed....
I do like Seanan McGuire and Rob Thurman writings and should get back to reading them...
I envy those who can sit and read a series from start to end and get lost in the world.....wish I could do that but usually around book 3 I want a taste of something else and struggle to get back to it....
So top authors for me would be in no particular order
Rob Thurman
Seanan McGuire
Jennifer Ashley
Larissa Ione
Jennifer Estep
Seanan McGuire is great author. She has a new book coming out on January 10th
that I'm looking forward to read. Unfortunately it's short for Bingo - under 200 pages.
Team name - my vote goes to Eight Wonder or Vertical Infinity, whichever name majority likes most.
I would say my favorite series are Kate Daniels, Mercy Thompson, Guild Hunter, Psy Changling and Half Moon Hollow. I also really enjoy the authors Suzanne Wright, Kristen Ashley, Penny Reid, Mariana Zapata, Jennifer Ashley and Shelly Laurenston.I read the first Elder Races book and enjoyed it, but I just have never been able to get excited about the characters in book 2 so I have never continued. I'm thinking I need to rethink that decision :)

I'll be reading this for some future shelf too if it's not ending up being a total crap but I doubt it because it's Thea Harrison :)

I'm hoping its not as well...I did like the first in the Elder Races and have the rest to read.....
I really do like her writing and wit
The ninjas have stopped by and changed our name, it's official now. I will update the list after the school run this morning. I hope you enjoy it Rosina. Looking forward to the 18th so I can dive in to my book.
Rosina, The Elder Races series only gets better with every book :)I think I will be reading
for free space. It's due to library on 20th so it fit's perfectly!
I hope they all turn out to be good, looking forward to reading your reviews. I think the shelf will be called about 8.30pm ish for me, so I will try and make sure I am book free for it starting.
I hope you don't mind but with it being over a week away still I was going to wait a little to pick out my free space book to see either what I get from the library by then or what I have in line to read. I have about 6 books on hold at my two libraries that I am anxiously awaiting!
Heather ~ Marceline wrote: "I hope you don't mind but with it being over a week away still I was going to wait a little to pick out my free space book to see either what I get from the library by then or what I have in line t..."Not at all, take your time. Honestly the free space book isn't essential first week anyway. Happy choosing nearer the time!
Hey girls, just checking in. Less than a week to go until Shelf! Been a busy week, not a lot of it fun. Hopefully you are all having a good week. Happy reading :)
Michelle wrote: "Hey girls, just checking in. Less than a week to go until Shelf! Been a busy week, not a lot of it fun. Hopefully you are all having a good week. Happy reading :)"Hey Michelle, just been busy wrapping stuff up for Tuesday, first day of my new job. Had a root canal re-done last week, yuck. Did some clothes shopping this week so that was fun. Been doing some reading, but waiting to read Archangel's Heart until the shelf is called. I will read it for either the free space or the first week's shelf, depending what is called. I have it from the library for another 13 days :)
good luck tomorrow Heather....my week has been busy and i cant wsit to start a bingo book....
what shelf interests you the most this round. ...the one that will take me out of my comfort zone....i think i saw mythology as one....
Thank you ladies! I am least excited about steampunk, but luckily I will have a VERY long drive to my new job and like listening to the Cinder series and that is on that shelf. I will just have to try to leave one unread for that shelf :)
I am keeping Soulless on audio for Steampunk. Hoping it's not a book I planned to listen too this week though as I just started a new audio book this morning. Been trying to get my steps up and walked to the vet and groomers today. Daisy isn't much of a conversationalist though so I started a new book ;) My aim for this round is to catch up with a few series that I have fell way behind, but we shall see!
Steampunk is not my cup of tea either but going through this shelf I can recommend Darkest London series by Kristen Callihan.
was very good and not at all "steampunky". Second book in series was a little more gadgets and stuff but still good. Maybe I'll pick this series up again or join Michelle reading Soulless - another series I've been hesitant to start. Haven't found the right book yet :)
i read the first in a trilogy thst is steampunk and was quite good. author was Clay Griffith. i have soulless on my tbr as well.
Skandia wrote: "Steampunk is not my cup of tea either but going through this shelf I can recommend Darkest London series by Kristen Callihan.
was very good and not at all "steampunky..."I have that one too, I met Kristen last summer. We'll see what happens if the shelf gets called.
