Litwit Lounge discussion

Each year since 2014, a feature has appeared on Goodreads (started at first by an individual or group of individuals, then picked up by the Goodreads management), set up like a book so we can use the review template, to allow individuals, if they want to, to review their past year's reading experience, in any way they wish to. (For instance, some make lists of favorite books; others use a more narrative approach.) I thought it would be fun to have an ongoing thread where those of us who write annual reviews could share them! So, here's my review of 2016 on Goodreads; https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... .

Thank you, Werner! Although you started this thread some time ago, I'd either forgotten or didn't see it. Anyway, I love the notion of being able to put down my thoughts about books without necessarily writing a review. However, I'm still not quite sure where one writes this... please advise. :-)

Wondering... where on one's page can you write a year's review?

Reggia, good question! There's no place to do this on your own page. Instead, you go to this "2022 on Goodreads" page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... , and shelve "2022 on Goodreads" as if it was a book. (I have an exclusive "book" shelf titled "years on Goodreads," but other people might do it differently.) Then you go ahead and write your review (the template operates the same way it would if "2022 on Goodreads" actually was a book). Hope that helps!

Sorry about that, Janelle! Since you and I are Goodreads friends, the review itself will probably come up in the updates you get on your home page.

Here, finally (and only ten years late! :-) ) is my review of 2013 on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... . As I explain in the review, until very recently, I didn't know that Goodreads had introduced its "20__ on Goodreads" feature in that year; I'd thought 2014 on Goodreads was the first. That gave me the chance to write this review as a 10-year retrospective look into the past, a perspective which I actually found kind of fun!
