What did you think of it? Favorite or least favorite characters? Favorite or least favorite part? Will you read the next one?

Whitney | 4 comments I am about 1/3 of the way through this so far and while I love the concept of a secret world beyond the bridge and think it has potential to be good it's not quite there for me yet. The characters so far seem quite one dimensional and the best friend relationship between Veronica and Mackenna doesn't quite seem genuine. I hope their adventures in the magical world of Doon and the relationship between Veronica and her mystery boy can redeem this for me because so far this book is just ok.

Yuwei (yuwei15) | 29 comments I loved the idea, the setting and the plot. However the characters really let me down. I understand how the author tried to show the 'Calling' through the characters but it was too much. The love at first sight that happened with everyone was horrible. I hated how the main protagonist Vee is completely obsessed and in "love" with her "dream boy". She was so obsessed with him that she didn't seem to have any thoughts on her own. All she cared about was gaining his trust his love. I like strong independent characters, that doesn't mean that they cant have friends or a lover to lean on, it's just that they cant be so obsessed with the other person that they can't even live on their own. It was also really weird how Jamie seemed too hate Vee and was super mean and arrogent towards her yet she would do anything for him. It always seemed to be her fault and not his.
Mackenna was a much better character, she was stronger and wanted to live her dream at becoming a actress. She didn't drop everything just because a hot boy looked at her.
Overall i enjoyed the book, but not sure if I would read the next one.

Whitney | 4 comments Yay someone else has read this. I agree very much with your comment I couldn't emphasise with Vee or Jamie at all and found the romance unbelievable. However the story was enough to keep me interested and it wasn't too predictable.

Annalisa Within the first chapter I found a typo. That about made me stop reading. I was also a little annoyed by the stereo types of Scottish.

Did anyone else think Outlander when they were reading this? Jamie being the love interest in both books. It was different no time travel. Just travel to a separated world, but it was still so close.

I agree with the others that have commented so far. I can't say I really liked any of the characters as much as I should have. Kenna complaining about her looks was enough to make me dislike her a little bit. Veronica might have been okay, but she needed to stop worrying and share. Before the story gets to Doon, it drags. The thing that saved this from a one star rating was the part in Doon an the kissing. I'm not sure I'll be looking for the next in the series. This looked good from the description but it just didn't work as well as I had hoped.
