Steve Goble | 11 comments If it inappropriate of me to post this here, simply delete it and let me know not to do it again. But I have written a historical mystery full of pirates, and it is due for release Sept. 12, 2017, from Seventh Street Books/Prometheus.

It is called The Bloody Black Flag: A Spider John Mystery and it is available for pre-order now. Thanks.

Hi Diana!
Welcome to the group.
I'm sorry, but your book is an historical romance not historical mystery. Our group is dedicated to the latter so I won't be able to add it to the master list.
Good luck.

message 8: by Gwen (last edited Jan 26, 2017 08:09PM) (new)

Gwen Mayo (gwenmayo) | 6 comments Diana,

I have a new one out that is co-authored with Sarah Glenn, a 1920's mystery set in old Florida.Murder on the Mullet Express. I would be happy if you would add that to the list. This is my first trip into the twentieth century. My previous books are set in Kentucky in the 1870's.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 465 comments July 11th: Death on Delos Death on Delos (The Athenian Mysteries, #7) by Gary Corby by Gary Corby. A Nicolaos and Diotima novel, set in ancient Greece.

message 10: by Gwen (new)

Gwen Mayo (gwenmayo) | 6 comments If any list members are Netgalley readers, Murder on the Mullet Express is still available to read there until sometime in March.

message 11: by Steve (last edited May 18, 2017 12:04AM) (new)

Steve Goble | 11 comments Add Betrayal at Iga: A Hiro Hattori Novel to this list. A ninja detective in the 1500's. Several books published in the series already, and they offer complex mysteries with really well researched history. Susan Spann knows her stuff!

Her newest one is due out in July!

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1892 comments Mod
Added. Thanks Steve.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 465 comments Here's the link for The Third Nero. (I had to add "Flavia" to the title to find it easily.)

Exciting! I didn't know she was starting a new series. I loved most of the Gaslight series.

message 28: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 697 comments I didn't know either until this popped up in my Facebook timeline today. She says she'll still be writing the Gaslight series as long as people keep buying the books.

message 29: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1892 comments Mod
Thanks Veronica.
I've added it to the master list.

It looks like a good book. I'm glad its set in the 1920s. This is a sorely neglected time period and such an interesting one.

Patricia Stoltey (patricia_stoltey) Hi Lauren and other members -- I just found th historical mystery group and am exploring the topics. Is it appropriate for me to announce my own December 2017 release here? I don't want to break rules, especially since I'm new to the group.

message 32: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1892 comments Mod
Hi Patricia,

Welcome to the group. If your new release is an historical mystery then you can announce it here and I will add it to the list.

Hope you have a good time with us!

message 33: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 94 comments Gosh, I'd been wondering about that and hadn't got around to asking, though I've been here for a while!

In that case may I say that Thicker than Water (Murray of Letho, #10, the tenth in the Murray of Letho series, is now out? Set in St. Andrews, Fife, in 1818, it's a traditional mystery beginning with a body in a professor's experimental fish pond.

message 34: by Patricia (last edited Jul 16, 2017 10:26AM) (new)

Patricia Stoltey (patricia_stoltey) Thank you, Lauren. Wishing Caswell Dead (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...) will be released by Five Star's Frontier Fiction line December 20th. It's a mystery that starts with the discovery of Caswell Proud's body. Who killed him? Hard to say. A lot of the residents of the Village of Sangamon wanted him to die. The novel is set in Frontier Illinois in the early 1800s.

I know I'll have a great time here. I read almost all genres including non-fiction so my Read list is a real mix. My favorite historical mystery series these days is Susan Spann's Shinobi novels featuring a ninja detective and a Portuguese priest. Her research is amazing.

message 35: by Alice (new)

Alice | 1048 comments Mod
Patricia, Is that a first in the series or part of an existing series. I like to read a series in order.

message 36: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Stoltey (patricia_stoltey) Hi Alice -- Wishing Caswell Dead is a standalone...my first attempt at a historical rather than contemporary mystery.

Thanks Meghan.
I will start a new thread for 2018 (can't believe we are approaching the end of the year!)

message 42: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 94 comments Just squeaking in at the end of the year (and I hope in the right thread this time) I have a new book, A Murderous Game, out this week.

A red dawn breaks over winter woodland, where two men stand, pistols drawn. Political strife has come to peaceful Ballater, bringing death in its wake, and Hippolyta Napier is once more drawn to find out more – even when her own life is in danger.

This is the third in the Hippolyta Napier series set in 19th. century Scotland.

Hope you enjoy it!
