I second Dark Matter !I've read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: A Savannah Story... and it is an interesting book (and movie) as well. I've met one of the real-life characters.
Trivia: "The Gingerbread Man" (movie) is also set in Savannah, and is allegedly based on one of John Grisham's discarded manuscripts.

I agree! I've been reading it on and off since November, and Erik Larson is my new favorite nonfiction writer. He makes reality interesting.
If you liked Devil in the White City...Be sure to consider Larson's Thunderstruck as well... involves a murder, Scotland Yard, a translatlantic voyage, a mild-mannered physician, and one of the first important uses of "wireless" -- all before World War I.
