The ending was so, so cleverly done! From the POV it comes from, the impact it made on (view spoiler). I loved it!
Just finished! I really enjoyed the book but found the insta love a bit *too* much. Nice quick fluffy read to start the year :) Loved the epilogue, but I want more now!
I have to agree with the insta love deal but I really enjoyed this book otherwise. My personal favorite part was the snippets of the other characters that had a role but weren't a major part of the story -- you just got a glimpse of their lives. I wish we got to see more into the mother's of both characters.
I did not see the ending coming but I'm so glad she ended it that way. I think she did a unique thing with the insta-love, how they fell in love for one day, and then drifted apart. They met at the right time because they helped open each other up to new paths for their futures, but it wouldn't have worked out like that if they'd been together, I think. Them finding each other as adults was so sweet, and I can see them picking right up where they left off, but with more maturity and wisdom that 10 years brings.

Also, wow, I wanted to punch the lawyer in the face. That was not cool.

I just finished at this and I loved it. I wasn't going to give it five stars until that ending.I love the epilogue. It was such a sweet moment in time and just pulled all my heartstrings right at the end.
I was hoping we'd hear from Irene again and I'm so glad she narrated the epilogue. For some reason I pictured her as Uzo Aduba in my mind! The side characters were my favorite part of the story and I think Nicola Yoon is such a talented story teller. Overall I gave it 4 stars because I did find a little bit of the love story cheesy but I still enjoyed it a lot. I think it was more about the path they set each other on than the actual relationship.
I read this at the beginning of the month and totally forgot it was for this book club. lol. I gave it 3 stars. It was too instant love for me. Plus some of the grammar made me crazy. I felt like correcting their sentences. I did like the little side characters but wanted to know more from them.
Man I just did not like this story. I liked Daniels heart for love but I am surprised Natasha didn't call him out on being a privileged brat for whining about even having the opportunity to go to college (even if it was not where he wanted to go). I get the whole wanting to make you own path in the world but don't throw away your future just to spite your parents. And then Natasha...I'm sorry but she was overly judgmental about everyone and everything. I liked getting a glimpse into her world and it her story is important to hear especially right now but she was just too much. I also don't see her as someone who would change in one day. No matter what happened. The bit about the lawyer I felt was too big of a slap in the face to the system. Why couldn't he have been someone who tried to do all he could for her? Why did that have to even be a part of the story?? The same result could have played out but with him being in her corner, fighting for her. Honestly I feel that would have been a better story. One of the ONLY things I liked and cared about in this story was Irene.
