Brendan Connell's latest novel, Clark, is a well written literary novel with intriguing "literary strangeness". I think it showcases the author's experimental writing style and beautiful prose in an excellent way.It was enjoyable to read about Eric Clark and his life, because the story was good and sufficiently strange. I found it intriguing that the author explored Italian cinema, because it is something that is not often seen in this kind of fiction.
I am going to spam a non-Snuggly book here... that is my forthcoming collection "Pleasant Tales" from Eibonvale Press. Justin Isis did the introduction and it is now available for preorder from the publisher...: http://www.eibonvalepress.co.uk/books...

Thank you. I would put one of those shy/blushing emoticons here but Goodreads hasn't got that sophisticated yet!

This collection sounds interesting.I recently re-read the earlier Eibonvale Press collection, Unpleasant Tales.
Pleasant Tales (plus chapbook, hopefully) ordered!
This has reminded me I need to get the updated version of Unpleasant Tales and pass my original on as a present to a friend (from thence they will be as hooked as I am!).

Thanks Ross!Nancy - No, you don't. They are both books of short stories. There isnt any plot connection or anything like that.

Updated version? Didn't know there's more then one.
The updated Unpleasant Tales is nothing major, just typos and maybe grammar tweaks, I believe. Brendan will be able to tell you more. There's no added stories or anything like that. Mainly I'll be buying it as an excuse to get a friend into Brendan's work.
Unpleasant Tales is a good book in the literary sense but it is certainly not pleasant and not really appropriate as a gift for young nieces and nephews or other junior family members. Pleasant Tales is a kind of moral evolution from unpleasantness to pleasantness, an alchemical transmutation in the crucible of the soul that has occurred with vim and alacrity.
The Translation of Father Torturo might not be good for younger readers either. I loved it, though.:)
Thanks Nancy! The updated Unpleasant Tales is the same, just with maybe 100-200 small corrections. I think it is more horror related (though not totally) whereas Pleasant Tales is more like The Cutest Girl in Class (one story even taking place in the Studscape universe therein).
I think it is appropriate for young people, aside from, possibly, a few splashes of violence. But youth seem tolerant of that sort of thing.
I just got the new Snuggly bundle and increased my Brendan Connell library by a few more books. Thanks.
