Sara So we are watching the snow fall here in Virginia. I know this storm has dropped snow on a large area in the eastern part of the US. Who has snow? And what are your favorite things to do (inside or out) when it's snowing?

Rebecca (rhartz) | 25 comments I am in Philadelphia and we're getting some! We just had snow Thursday night and now we are getting more.

My favorite things to do are curl up on the couch with some hot chocolate and a good book or movie. I'll probably do both today since it doesn't look like I'll be heading outside any time soon. :)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments I'm in Nova Scotia and we're slated to get loads tonight! Normally I'm a stay warm inside type of chick but my 2yo loves playing in it and I love watching him navigate this new medium ❤

Kirsten (kmcripn) 2 (!!!) winter storms heading our way ... more snow!!! Plus it's too damn cold!

message 5: by Mike (new)

Mike | 443 comments A friend posted a picture of her yard in North Carolina, and they have more snow on the ground than we do in South Bend! And this is after a couple of days of Lake Effect snow up here, which is the weirdest LE event I've ever seen because it's only given us a dusting. Stay safe, my southern friends! I used to live in Memphis, and I remember how people could freak out when the snow started falling.

message 6: by Tytti (new)

Tytti | 355 comments It's snow, it's much nicer than not having it, at least it makes everything brighter. "Black" winters have become more common these days. The temperature rose 20 degrees last night, so it's not even cold now.

message 7: by Sara (new)

Sara Mike, we are only about an hour and a half from the north carolina border (western part of the state) and this is one of those rare storms when NC and southern central VA are getting more than us! We still have a good 4 inches or so.

message 8: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I wouldn't mind, Tytti, if it would have the decency to stay off the pavement and road. (And, maybe, if the paperboy would have the decency not to throw the paper in the deepest part of the yard.

Laura • lauralovestoread | 101 comments I live in NC and we got about 6 inches which is big for us! Just played in it with the kids and now I'm curled up with blankets and my pups catching p on reading :) ❄️

message 10: by Tytti (new)

Tytti | 355 comments I don't mind snow on the road, either, I rather have snow than ice.

Jessica Moore | 64 comments I live in rural Iowa and usually we have lots of snow right now but not this winter :( I haven't taken my kids sledding even once. Hope everyone else is staying safe and warm!

poshpenny | 1935 comments It's snowing in Portland! I'm not sure why but it makes me want to go to Powell's City of Books. Off work early today so I'm on my way!

message 13: by Allison (new)

Allison I'm in Rhode Island and I think we have about 8-10 inches so far. It's still snowing.

message 14: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1935 comments I really *should* be going home before this dusting turns into enough to actually mess with the buses. (it doesn't take much!) but... books!

message 15: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 41 comments Lots of snow here in Northern Ontario, Canada! But luckily not tooo cold, -14 celcius ( I think that's about 5 fahrenheit for those of you who are in USA) I went ice fishing today which was fun

message 16: by Caity (new)

Caity (adivineeternity) | 164 comments We got some here in NYC, probably only a few inches. I love staying inside and reading with a mug of hot tea or hot chocolate, although I will watch movies/tv shows and play video games, too.

message 17: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Sterling | 153 comments We had a snow day yesterday in Oklahoma, and I really loved the idea of just curling up with a book and reading/dozing all day, but my 9-year-old wasn't having any of that. Too much snow to be played in and too many movies to be watched. I did finish the January group read book last night and got a couple cozy mysteries read today, in between more snow play today. Those three books filled three of my prompts, so I'm calling it a good snowy weekend!

message 18: by Fannie (new)

Fannie D'Ascola | 443 comments Lot of snow here too. I am north of Montréal, Québec.

Cold too. Yesterday was around -25°C, but tomorrow will be around 5°C.

We separate the seasons my husband and I: I Watch from inside while he goes ice skating with our sons and he waves from the kitchen while we use the kid pool during summer.

That's hilarious, Fannie!

message 20: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) We're getting snow here in Michigan ... aside from reading, my favorite thing to do on a snowy day is baking with my daughter! :)

message 21: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1935 comments We've had so much snow here in Porland since last night! It was difficult to get home from work on public transit, but now I don't need to leave for a couple of days. Book time!

I like doing the same thing. We do not get snow in downtown Los Angeles, but we do get rain and I love sitting back and reading a book and sipping on tea or hot chocolate.

Yes, a friend of mine who lives in Iowa did a video about it. I use to live in Bettendorf, but could not handle those ice storms
