Joel I have just started Revelation Space and am super enjoying it. Just wondering what is everyone's number one favorite by Reynolds.

message 3: by Tim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tim Chasm City just pips it, though it took me a couple of read throughs to really appreciate it

Robert Smith Century Rain.

Like the mix of noir and sci-fi in this one, but anything by Reynolds is worth a read.

Rob Rowntree Century Rain
Pushing Ice
House of Suns

I think Century Rain is my favourite, for the same reasons stated by Robert.

Isabel (kittiwake) Chasm City
House of Suns
not sure about number 3

Pickle from what ive read i prefer his stand alone novels

1. The Prefect
2. Chasm City
3. Revelation Space

Devero For the moment I only have read Revelation Space and Redempion Ark.

Matthew Williams Definitely Redemption Ark. While I really enjoyed Revelation Space, I felt this one did the best job of merging action with character, plot and faction development. One complaint I always have is with the number of twists and late-game developments. He's not M Night Shyamalan for God's sakes!

Ben 1. Pushing Ice
2. Terminal World
3. Chasm City

The order depend entirely on which I've last read. But, the exception of Revelation Space itself, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anything of his.

Chuck Hatcher 1. Chasm City
2. Redemption Ark
3. Revelation Space
4. Pushing Ice
5. Century Rain
6. The Prefect
7. House of Suns
8. Terminal World
9. Absolution Gap

Pushing Ice was the first one of his I read. It really blew me away. You can't go wrong with any of these.

Kenneth Hindle-May This is tough. While there have been a few Reynolds books I wasn't overly taken with, it's hard to separate out the ones I like the most.

I'd say:

1. House of Suns
2. Redemtion Ark
3. Chasm City
4. Revelation Space
5. Terminal World
6. Pushing Ice

Phil Leader I have a huge soft spot for Century Rain. The noir bits were amazing, enough so that the sci-fi bits seemed a real anti climax, I would have happily read a whole book of Floyd investigating the strange 'suicide' in the alternate Paris.

In second place is everything else. There's always something in each of his books that really grabs my attention and stays with me long after I have finished reading.
