Jon Hi everyone, Jon here. Guess I should introduce myself. My favorite subjects are astronomy, cosmology, astrophysics, and sci-fi. Recently started reading Analog Science Fiction & Fact. I’m diggin the shorter stories I can get in between working around the house, helping the kids with homework, etc.

message 22: by Veronika (new)

Veronika Hello. I am Veronika. I am cell and molecular biology graduate, however living on the Big Island of Hawaii left me in awe of the universe. I mean the sky there is amazing!
I always loved sciences. At first I was inclined to chemistry, but eventually preferred physics. Astronomy/astrophysics naturally followed.
Now I am back in Europe, but passion for night sky stayed with me.
I enjoy reading physics and astronomy books and magazines. Also I am science fiction fan who does not say no to a good fantasy book.

Hi Veronika . i am very excited to have a Molecular biology graduate in the group . We can learn about human cell behavior in Space , and how long term space travel changes our Cell in a molecular level

Yes . I thought about it too . But i think it is a different branch which they call Astro biology or Cosmobiology or something , which deals about those kind of things .. But we can sure share her knowledge about Molecular Biology , its an exciting field too

And to all members sorry for the little Dormancy of the group. Our group will function like before from now on.

Mary Oh I just saw this , haven't been active on Goodreads lately ,Need to get back on track .

I'm Mary , and a space junkie, anything related to it is
exhilarating. Wished I could understand as much as an astrophysicist lol
Love going to old school used bookstores and snooping about the old school space operas .
Ummm nothing special career wise , formerly in law enforcement, currently in dentistry , and presently SAHM. 🤗

Marco Castellani (marcocastellani) | 4 comments Hello, I'm Marco and I work as a researcher at the Rome Astronomical Observatory (www.oa-roma.inaf.it). My main topics of investigation are stellar evolutions and globular clusters, moreover I in the team of ESA-GAIA satellite. I'm interested in public outreach as well, and I'm glad to have found this group ;-)

Welcome. We are very glad to have an actual Researcher in our group. And We are excited to hear more about The GAIA satellite.

message 39: by Marco (new)

Marco Castellani (marcocastellani) | 4 comments Thanks a lot Starman!

Sure, GAIA is working quite well and it is revealing us more and more the incredible complexity of our Galaxy... some interesting (not too technical) articles can already be found in http://sci.esa.int/gaia/ but we can surely expand some topics whenever seems interesting to do it ;-)

Greetings!

message 40: by Chris (new)

Chris Porter | 10 comments Hi, I'm Chris Porter, and my interests include Astrophysics, Quantum Mechanics, and Cosmology, among many others! When I was younger I thought that I would work in one of these fields, but alas, my life has taken other paths altogether, and left me only my interest in these things!

message 50: by Nova (new)

Nova Syzygy (novatheproxy) Hello, so, uh, I'm Nova, and I'm an astrophysics and astronomy nerd. I am deeply fascinated with space and the universe, and have been researching it almost obsessively for years. My favorite genre is science/speculative fiction, because, well, I'm kind of a nerd (though I will pick up a fantasy every once in a while).

Here are some other random space-related facts about me:
-My two favorite planets are Proxima Centauri b and HD189733b
-Europa is really underrated, and people really should start making more plans to explore it
-Project Breakthrough Starshot!!!!! This needs to happen sooner!!!!
-I get annoyed with people whenever they find out I like astronomy and astrophysics and immediately assume I want to be an astronaut and fly to Mars or something. Like, no, you don't need to actually go to space to study space.
-People should really stop confusing galaxies and nebulas and calling images of nebulas "galaxy prints"
-I like thinking about how this universe is constantly expanding and how we are nothing compared to it and how this universe might be nothing compared to a possibly infinite amount of multiverses and the fact that I like thinking about this is kind of weird
-I really like the universe and just space in general
