On the whole, I haven't read much contemporary descriptive fiction in a modern setting (though I hope to change that). But I've really liked some of the relatively few books of this type that I've read; and one of the stand-outs is Leann Neal Reilly's
. Readers should be warned that it's a novel about a painful subject, child sexual abuse and its aftermath; and besides perverted sexual content, it contains some very bad language, as well as depictions of America's drug culture. But none of this is gratuitous, and I think it's an important novel that more people should read. For what it's worth, my review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... .
