Light smiled. English class was by far her favorite. Class was going to start in about 15 minutes. But it was her favorite, so she didn't mind getting there early.
Theia came into class, settling down her things. Next she propped her feet up on the desk and started reading. She barely noticed that Light was there.
((SORRRYYY!!! I didn't see this reply!!!! :P))"Sorry," she said, her voice monotone. "Didn't mean to scare you." She looked down at Theia's book. "Wait... is that the newest book in that popular series that's been going around lately? I think its name is Precure..."
((Shoot! I'm so sorry about not responding!!! I went on a camping trip for like, 2 days, and i thought I responded to everything!!! I'm so sorry!!! D': I'll see you in two weeks then!))
((Awesome!!!!! :D))"Oh, sorry. Didn't realize. That's a pretty advanced book though. I heard that it was a college level book, I think. You like reading?" Light kept examining the cover. It was truly beautiful, with the flowers and the beautiful illustrations. Whoever drew it was clearly talented.
"Reading is a lot of fun," she said, pulling up a chair. "But in all, I prefer music. Do you play any instruments?"
"The piano, that's it." Theia said, leaning back in her chair, knowing now that she would never be able to go back to her book. She set her book down on the table and yawned.
Light looked at Theia, surprised. "Same, actually... I only play the piano. But if I could, percussion would be a lot of fun..." Light watched as Theia pot down her book, not realizing she was the cause for it.
Mr. Church strided into the classroom, a briefcase in one hand and a cup of decaf in the other. He placed down his belongings on his quite messy desk, and took a seat. He had barely noticed the two students already sitting there before he picked up a stack of graded papers."Ah, good morning, Light and Theia! Class doesn't begin for another ten minutes. What's the occasion?" He smiled.
He chuckled lightly and took a quick sip of his coffee. "Of course. Books are a gift we should all take advantage of. Library too far from here, hmm?" He said in a joking manner. Church couldn't help but be a bit puzzled. While Blue Lake was a school for the intelligent, most students didn't enter the classroom until it was needed, spending free time with friends or posting on Instagram or whatever the kids did nowadays.
((I hope this rp is finishing up.))It's time for the Newspaper Club meeting! There is a google document set up for the newspaper. If you are participating, please PM me your email so I can add you if I have not already.
Enjoy!
Ms. Violet swept into the room and sat down, waiting for the other students to arrive. She flipped through the fonts, debating which one to use./
Johanna stood outside the door to the room and took a deep breath. She was excited to help with the paper, but what if she didn't do well or the people didn't like her?
Sienna paced slowly towards the English Classroom, making sure she had brought everything she would need. She was optimistic about being part of the Newspaper Committee, news were day-to-day history, or so she thought. She also was eager to meet the other students there. She smiled at the girl who was by the door when she arrived.
((I don't know how active I will be able to be on Drive... But I will try. It's just that I rely on my phone to answer Goodreads, and I won't have access to a laptop until tomorrow's afternoon.))
Johanna smiled back at the girl outside before opening the door and going in. She was happy to see Ms. Violet. A familiar face was definitely something she was looking for. She sat near the end of the table./
Ms. Violet smiled at Johanna and stopped scrolling through the fonts. "Hello, Johanna!" she greeted her cheerfully. "And what's your name?" she gestured to Sienna.
"Sienna Cross, Madam," she answered with a smile, and proceeded to leave the stuff she brought on the chair that was closest to the teachers desk.
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Sienna," Ms. Violet told her with a broad smile. "I'm Ariana Violet, or Ms. Violet."/
Rodney peered into the room, and seeing the meeting hadn't really started yet he strolled in and sat in a seat by Ms. Violet.
Sienna nodded to the teacher and returned to her seat. Her face lightened up when she saw Rodney. She waved him hello. She was happy to see him here.
Rodney offered her a small smile and pulled a small notebook and pencil out of his pocket, scribbling something down he had just thought of./
After welcoming Rodney as well, Ms. Violet decided to go ahead and get started.
"The school newspaper is a fun way to share things about the school, but also an important way to share news," she started. "We share things like policies and when events are, so don't lose sight of the more important pieces."
"That said, we do have some fun sections, but our first priority is to divide up the work."
"Our first edition will have a News section where a student reporter puts news about the school, some pictures of our students at various events gathered by a student photographer, a Student of the Month section where a student chosen by teachers is featured and interviewed by a student reporter, an advice section where students can write in anonymously for school-related help by a senior student reporter, and a Writers section where short writings like songs and poems by our students are featured gathered by a student reporter."
Sienna listened to what the teacher was saying while discretely eyeing the other students in the classroom. She nodded when the teacher finished speaking and rose her hand."How are we going to divide the work?" She asked. She hoped she could get the student reporter role or the photographer one.
"Each section will have a student in charge of it," Ms. Violet explained. "And I'm passing around a signup sheet. Put your name on one or two you would like and I'll assign sections from that." She pulled out a clipboard and pen and passed it to her left, Sienna.
Sienna wrote her name on the Student Reporter and Student Photographer roles and passed the sheet to Rodney."Here you go."
Rodney nodded his thanks and wrote his name under the News section before passing it to Johanna./
Johanna wrote her name under Student of the Month and Writers and passed it back to Ms. Violet.
/
Ms. Violet made a "hmm" noise to herself while looking at the list. "Rodney, are you sure you don't want to do the advice column? I would like to have a senior do it."
Rodney scratched his neck. "I do not want to," he admitted. "I would like to do the News section."/
Ms. Violet made thoughtful noises to herself again. "Would anyone be willing to take over the Advice Column then? We need someone to do it."
Sienna remained silent, she didn't wanted that position. Albeit interesting, the prospect of being a columnist didn't appealed to her. She hoped the other girl would volunteer.
Johanna hesitantly raised her hand. "I guess I could take it," she decided. "There aren't many people here. Do you want people to take multiple sections? I could do Student of the Month and the advice column."/
Ms. Violet nodded, "That could work. Sienna, could you be the photographer? And Rodney, could you take the News section? That would leave me to take care of the Writers section and oversee everything, of course."
"Of course, Ms. Violet," Sienna answered. She was very happy with the result. "But then who is going to be the reporter?" She added.
"Different reporters take on different sections," Ms. Violet explained after everyone agreed with their parts. "Rodney and Johanna and I are all reporters. Rodney reports school news, Johanna reports on the students, and I report on writing by the students."((Let's time skip to the next meeting. Would you see if you can find some photos that could look like they're from the school's Fourth of July event? You can post them here, PM me them, or put them directly on the Google document.))
((I'm so sorry. I was busy last week moving all my stuff to my new home. I saw that you published the newspaper already with the photo credits to my character. I'm so sorry you had to do that. But now that it happened I don't know what will happen next? Is this RP over for now? I can now return to be active as usual.))
((It's totally fine! Life gets pretty busy sometime :) I think we'll pause this one for now and continue near the end of August.))
Rodney sat down at his desk and pulled out his pencil bag, setting up for class. He had decided to continue taking Government this summer because he enjoyed the class, and, secretly, because he loved the prestige granted him due to his status as Class President. Reelections weren't too far off, however, and he may not keep his role.
Sienna’s parents had insisted that she took summer classes to better her curriculum, and she couldn’t be happier about that decision. She strolled happily the hallways to her interest class: Government. Honestly, it was almost the only thing that had caught her attention on the whole list. She entered the classroom and scanned the few students there for familiar faces...
Wait a second. That was Rodney! Sienna chuckled under her breath. Of course she would find him. It had been such a long time since they talked for the last time. She wondered if he still knew her. She walked slowly to sit down on the desk right behind him, trying not to be seen by him.
Once on her seat she leaned a bit forward.
“Mr. President,” she whispered to his ear with a mischievous grin.
Rodney had been too absorbed by arranging his supplies to notice Sienna's entrance. When he heard a whisper in his ear, he straightened in surprise and whipped his head around."Sienna!" he exclaimed, a smile lifting the corners of his lips. "Are you joining this class for the summer?" Of course she was. What a silly question. Why else would she be here? She always seemed to make him drop some of his formality.
Sienna smiled brightly. He did remembered her.“I do!” She answered. “It’s good to see we will be sharing it.”
She leaned back to her seat and started to put all her things in order. She was happier now because she knew that this class would be better with Rodney around. She could learn a great deal from him.
"It is," Rodney agreed. Finishing arranging his items, he continued, "What has been going on for you?" He hadn't seen her since the last election, nearly a year ago. It would be good to catch up.
Sienna laughed nervously. “Well, it’s been a while isn’t it?” She answered. “What’s been going on for you?” She asked evasively.
She had a thousand answers for that question, but remembering many things she had done this past year brought painful memories and difficult moments. She wanted to tell him all about her adventures with Tevi, but remembering that they didn’t even talked anymore made her feel uneasy, and that was without even mentioning her ex boyfriend Arthur.
“H-how has it been being president? Was it what you expected?” she asked.
Rodney considered the question for a moment. "Some has been expected, and some unexpected. The position is overall what I expected; however, I was not expecting the treatment from fellow students." He thoughtfully put his head to the side. "Students tend to respect me rather than want to become friends with me. I am not sure whether I will be running again this year for the position."He hadn't meant to tell her that much, but it was too late now. He did want to make friends here, and students did tend to give him a nod rather than introducing themselves or approaching him.
