The end of the school year is a good time to think about donating textbooks. Often prisoners will look for certain topics to assist themselves in self-study towards a G.E.D. or, if available through the prison, an associate's, maybe even bachelor's degree. The needs will vary from prison to prison, but even if you don't have your own textbooks to donate, you might find some at a used book store. If you're lucky enough to have a used book store in town that purchases old books, often they have textbooks for free that they were unable to resell, and the end of the school year is when you'll be able to catch them.

For example, I found a calculus book for free at a local used book store and donated it to a prison. I got the feedback from the librarian that his clerk (an inmate) had recently been wishing they had a calculus book, and was happy to see one arrive in the mail.

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 3 comments I know it has been forever since I checked in here. It is so good that people can donate books to help people to better themselves while incarcerated. This is a great reminder. On another note, I gave the link to my interview of your book with two other people that I interviewed who write in the fantasy genre(at least I think it would be considered such). I tried to email you but the email did not work. I hope your most recent book will be available in print someday if it is not already. My parent is reading so much about the Irish people right now and reads some of it to me. I would so love to read more but as you know may recall, I do not do good reading books online. Skimming is what I do online. I am amazed I read your whole first book online and that is probably the only book I ever did that with.
