Shelley | 1225 comments Ripper: The Secret Life of Walter Sickert by Patricia Cornwell

Release date: January 28, 2017

A sequel to her first book, Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper - Case Closed. She says she has more evidence that Sickert was the Ripper.

Fishface | 19055 comments I have never been able to bring myself to read the first book because it was so transparently ripped off from Knight's Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution. Especially in light of the fact that Knight ultimately confessed that he made up most of it, and because it so wildly conflicts with the FBI profile.

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 292 comments I read the first one - it was awful. She would present theories as facts and base other facts on them.

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments This thread got me interested, so I went to the Goodreads page for the first book and started scrolling through the reviews. I have to mention that I usually discount both 1- and 5-star reviews, because I find them inarticulate, ridiculous, or with suspect motives (in both cases). However, in this case, several of the 1-star reviews, particularly G.R's, present intelligent and well-thought-out take-downs of the book, making me believe that it really does merit those single stars!

ETA: LOL, someone shelved it as 'historical romance fiction'!
