I have never been able to bring myself to read the first book because it was so transparently ripped off from Knight's Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution. Especially in light of the fact that Knight ultimately confessed that he made up most of it, and because it so wildly conflicts with the FBI profile.
I read the first one - it was awful. She would present theories as facts and base other facts on them.
Shelley wrote: "I remember not being overly impressed by the first book."I don't read her books at all.
This thread got me interested, so I went to the Goodreads page for the first book and started scrolling through the reviews. I have to mention that I usually discount both 1- and 5-star reviews, because I find them inarticulate, ridiculous, or with suspect motives (in both cases). However, in this case, several of the 1-star reviews, particularly G.R's, present intelligent and well-thought-out take-downs of the book, making me believe that it really does merit those single stars!ETA: LOL, someone shelved it as 'historical romance fiction'!

A sequel to her first book, Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper - Case Closed. She says she has more evidence that Sickert was the Ripper.
