A Year in Provence byPeter Mayle is a monthly account of the author's experience during the first year of his move from England to France. He and his wife bought a farmhouse, a fixer-upper and the reader follows along with his travails, explorations and interpersonal experiences.

It is an enjoyable read told with good humor and appetite for life. It was a nice reading break for me and I especially enjoyed all the meal descriptions.

I love Peter Mayle!

Much of my reading predates my time on Shelfari or Goodreads, so I don't have reviews noted ... but if you look at his profile page and see the list of his books I think I've read all BUT A Good Year The Vintage Caper and Anything Considered

The first four listed are memoirs of his years in Provence. The rest are all fiction. Oh ... except for A Dog's Life which is the "autobiography" of Mayle's mongrel dog - an absolute hoot!
