description
THE ART STUDIO is an average sized room with a variety of paints, brushes, canvases, drawing materials, and sculpting clay. It is open to all students, and is used by both the teachers, creative arts students, and anyone who wishes to use its resources.

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby looked at her blank canvas, biting on the end of her wooden paintbrush. She had no idea what she was going to paint, and either way it wasn't going to look the best because she had no clue whatsoever on how to paint. Dipping her paintbrush in the red paint, she almost touched the canvas, shaking her head as she rinsed it back off.

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew slowly walked into the art studio. He wasn't much of an artsy person, but apparently he needed a Fine Arts credit for high school and he had been sent to see what he liked.
A smile broke over his face when he noticed Darby. Maybe this wouldn't be pointless! He hadn't talked to her since they won King and Queen at the the Spring Fling and he had missed her.

message 4: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby tapped the tip of her sneaker on the ground, biting the end of her paintbrush a little bit harder, and even more glad to realize that it was her's and not anybody else's. Then, she turned around and smiled whenever she saw Andrew. "Hi." She said softly, the same little grin plastered on her face.

message 5: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "Hey, Spring Queen," Andrew replied, continuing to smile. "Whatcha doing here?" He looked around at the various things he could do. Painting, pottery, and drawing seemed to be the main focus, with plenty of different materials to do so. He had no idea where to start.

message 6: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby looked back over at him and smiled, dropping the end of the paintbrush from her mouth. "Oh. Nothing really. Just, just chilling." She replied, nodding as she rocked back and forth on the heels of her sneakers. "Okay, the whole story is that I got bored, wanted to paint, but then I realized that I stink at it." She replied, laughing. "What about you?"

message 7: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew laughed slightly. He had missed her talkativeness and honesty. "I got told I needed to work on my Fine Arts credit for high school. I have to figure out what I want to do. Any suggestions?"

message 8: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby nodded, biting her lip softly as she looked around the room. "Well, if you were me, I would do pottery. You can shape it anyway you want to, and plus it's fun!" Darby replied, lightly laughing. "Plus, after it dries, you get to paint it."

message 9: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "Alright, I'll give it a shot," Andrew agreed, carrying a pottery wheel to a table seat near Darby. He then went back and chose his clay.

message 10: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby sat down on an empty stool, waiting to see what Andrew could do. One half of her was nervous. She actually hadn't had the chance to do pottery yet and she didn't want Andrew to mess up because of her.

message 11: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew sat down and took a good look at the pottery wheel. It looked like he was supposed to use the foot pedal to spin the wheel and make whatever it was he wanted. "How much do you know about these things?" Andrew asked with a small smile. "Should I start with a ball or something else?"

message 12: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby looked back over at Andrew. "Well, that's the thing. I have never actually done pottery before? I have just watched videos of other people doing it." Darby stated, fiddling with her fingers. "But from watching all of those videos, I guess that you use your foot on this thingy and start with a ball. As you press your foot here, this starts to spin and you mold it into whatever shape you want it to be."

message 13: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "Alright," Andrew replied, placing the clay in the center. "What're you doing?" he nudged her shoulder with his playfully.

message 14: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby lightly chuckled, smiling and nodding as she looked over at Andrew. "Seeing how all of this works out. I was actually considering getting it on video, but then I realized that would probably be a distraction."

message 15: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew laughed slightly, "I meant with that." He pointed to her blank canvas with a little smile. "Are you going to paint a portrait of me?" He posed dramatically, with one hand in the air and the other on his waist.

message 16: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby looked over the blank canvas. "Oh. That. Oh yeah! Totally. I was totally going to do something with that." She replied, nodding as she fiddled with the paintbrush in her hands. "Sure. You just, I don't know, be you and, I'm cracking up with that pose of your's."

message 17: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew laughed at her seriousness while making her statement and starting pumping the foot-pedal. He started as the wheel started to quickly spin and his clay went flying across the room.

message 18: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby watched Andrew as he started to attempt to make pottery, but the clay went flying everywhere in the room. "Ambush!" Darby yelled, ducking as she burst out laughing. "I'm sorry, but that was priceless."

message 19: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew blushed slightly and forced a laugh, before starting to actually laugh with Darby. "So, I'm guessing I'm supposed to keep my hands on the clay when the wheel is spinning so that doesn't happen?" he asked, grinning. He grabbed a scraper from a closet nearby and started picking up the clay.

message 20: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby nodded as she stopped laughing. "Yeah. I'm guessing so." She replied, smiling as she bit her lip and sat back down. "That was actually pretty funny. Need any help picking that up, Andrew?"

message 21: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "I think I got it," Andrew told her. It was true, but even if it hadn't been he wouldn't have asked for help. He finished up picking up the clay, dumped in the trash, and brought a new lump of clay over to his seat.

message 22: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby nodded as she watched Andrew pick up the clay that was on the floor and put in in the trash. Then, she watched as he came back over to do it all over again, and this time he was probably hoping that he did it right. Darby watched him and smiled, giving him an encouraging thumbs up.

message 23: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew smiled back at Darby before grabbing the clay and starting to pump the pedal. He poked a hole in the middle with his thumb and tried to smooth out the sides with a tool he had found in the side of the wheel.

((It'll look something like this 😂 (view spoiler)))

message 24: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby watched as Andrew started to pump the pedal with his foot, poking a hole in the middle and smoothing out the sides with some tool Darby didn't even know the name of. "Wow. That actually looks pretty good."

(( lol! :D )

message 25: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew grinned as it started to take shape. It was pretty good for his first time. Then, his thumb accidentally hit the side of it, causing it to cave in slightly. He sighed as he stared at it, stopping pumping the foot pedal.
It was fairly good, tall and mostly round, but the side caved in and there were indents here and there shaped like fingers.

message 26: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby looked at the finished product, watching as his thumb accidentally hit the side of it. "Well, either way, I totally think that you are going to pass." Darby stated with a nod, looking at the little pottery thing Andrew had made. "Would that be a flower pot or a glass, or what would it be called?"

message 27: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "Maybe a flower pot. I hadn't really thought much about what it was," Andrew admitted with a slight smile. "I guess I've found my Fine Art for the year. What are you doing? Oh, you're probably covered already in the Creative Arts, huh?"

message 28: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments "I think that it should be a flower pot, and don't paint it. You know why? Because it looks great the way that it is right now. It is very pretty and plain." She told him with a little smile. "I guess so. Well, actually, no. I haven't. And that is why I am here."

message 29: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "Ah," Andrew expressed. "Well, maybe you should get to that," he nudged her shoulder with his like he had done before. He gave his creation a good look up and down before trotting over to the kiln. "How.. do..I..work..my...kiln?" he said under his breath while typing it into his phone.

message 30: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby nodded and smiled. "Yeah. I'll paint something, even if it takes all day and night. I'll probably pass out from being so, uncreative?" Darby shrugged. Darby watched as Andrew looked at his creation, chuckling quietly as he typed something up on his phone.

message 31: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew followed the instructions he found online to start up the kiln, and popped his creation in. "Wow, it takes a long time for it to bake," he commented, trotting back over to Darby.

((Hmm should we do something to make this more interesting? Start a paint fight or something?))

message 32: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby lightly chuckled as she dipped her paintbrush into the purple paint, purple was her favorite color right now, and watched it. It looked all slimy and all gooey. "Ew. This looks so weird." She said, flinging her paintbrush around the room, watching as little bits of purple went on the floor and on the canvas, maybe a little bit on herself.

(( yeah! hopefully darby started something with her paint and paintbrush. c: ))

message 33: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "Hey!" Andrew exclaimed, hiding his laugh. "You got paint on me!" It was a good thing he had worn old clothes to come paint. He glanced around nervously. They could get in big trouble for wrecking the art studio, but could he just let her get away with that? He dipped his finger in her paint and flicked it at her.

((We should have them sent to the office (since us mods play the principal) and get detention together or something.))

message 34: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby's mouth turned into a little o, and then she laughed. "Purple is a very nice color on you, Mr. Andrew." She replied, laughing as she watched Andrew dip his finger into the paint, flinging paint at her. Gasping, a smirk appeared on her face. "Well then, here you go." She said, dipping her paint brush in the blue paint and smearing in on Andrew's nose.

(( oh my gosh! that would be so funny! i would love to see it happen! we should do it. :) )

message 35: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew laughed and grabbed a paintbrush for himself. Holding like a sword, he dramatically advanced toward her. "I think you would like some red," he decided, dipping his paintbrush in her paint and painting her nose red.

message 36: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby gasped again as a little smile curled onto her face. "Too bad you are in the wrong time period. This little warrior is going to war." She said, painting orange tiger stripes on his cheeks and laughing when she was finished.

message 37: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew laughed as well, dipping his paintbrush into the black paint and adding stripes to her face in zebra style. "Oh, but you forgot that tigers eat other animals." He bared his teeth at her.

message 38: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby laughed as she looked over at the paints, dipping her paintbrush in the green paint. "But what if this tiger only eats plants, which will never actually happen in real life because tigers eat meat, don't judge me." Darby joked, painting his forehead with the green paint.

message 39: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew chuckled and covered his brush in brown. "The zebra needs camouflage," he explained, painting her forhead and chin.

message 40: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby chuckled as she looked over at the paints. She had used every single color. "Okay, it is really storming now." She replied, pouring a little can of paint on Andrew's head. "There. Now the little guy at the end of the rainbow will find you."

message 41: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew wrinkled his face when she poured it on him to avoid getting it in his eyes or mouth. When it was mostly gone, he opened his eyes and darted over to the sink. He wiped his forehead off so the paint wouldn't drip in his eyes, and grabbed a can of red paint. He trotted back over to Darby and covered his paint brush in paint, flicking it at her. He hoped she would think that was all he would do so he could surprise her.

message 42: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby looked over at Andrew, putting her hands over her mouth. She really let her mind get the best of her. "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. Hopefully that didn't get into your mouth." She replied, looking over at Andrew as he flicked some paint at her. Getting her paintbrush back, she flicked some yellow paint at him.

message 43: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew smiled to himself at her concern and slowly poured a quarter of the can of paint over her shoulders.

message 44: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby watched as Andrew smiled to himself and watched as he poured a little bit of paint from a can on her shoulders. "Oh man. I deserved that, didn't I?" Darby asked, chuckling.

message 45: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments "Wholeheartedly," Andrew agreed, flicking paint at her with his brush.

((Should I have one of my teachers drop in?))

message 46: by emma (last edited Jun 24, 2017 12:27PM) (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby laughed and nodded, flicking her paintbrush at Andrew. By the time all of this was over, they would look like a rainbow exploded in the room. Paint was everywhere. On the floor, on their clothes and she didn't regret one thing.

( sure! )

message 47: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew laughed and walked toward his pottery wheel, leaving paint footprints behind him. He figured he should put it away. Half way there, he laughed aloud, realizing how stupid he sounded. There was paint all over the art studio and he was trying to put something away to clean it up.

Ms. Violet hummed to herself as she walked down the hallway. She had enjoyed teaching today, and was going to the art studio to paint a bit before the day was over. She chuckled to herself as she thought of how some of her students were even better painters then herself.

Andrew froze as he heard footsteps coming down the hallway.

message 48: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby lightly chuckled as she watched Andrew walk to clean up everything by the pottery wheel, but the whole entire room was a mess. At least they had all day long to clean every single little bit up. Looking around as she cleaned up the paints a little bit, she froze, dropping her paintbrush on the floor when she heard footsteps. "Andrew, did you hear that?"

message 49: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherine_mooncakes) | 0 comments Andrew hesitated and mumbled, "Yeah. We're busted," he grabbed a rag from the closet and started mopping up the paint.

Ms. Violet swept into the room with a smile, which was quickly replaced by a frown of disapproval. "And what do we have here?" she asked witheringly. "The art studio is for art not childish behavior. I would have expected more, especially from one of my own students." She looked at Darby.

message 50: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 611 comments Darby closed her eyes, letting out a sigh. "Yep. Busted." She replied, picking up her paintbrush off of the floor and putting it in the water to get rinsed off. As she heard the door open, she turned around and saw Ms. Violet with a smile on her face, which was quickly replaced with a frown. "Actually, Ms. Violet, I read somewhere that Vincent Van Gogh did the exact same thing when he was painting." Darby nodded, pursing her lips together. "Okay, maybe I didn't, but still."
