Vikas, do join as and when you can
Late one night, exploring her father’s library, a young woman finds an ancient book and a cache of yellowing letters addressed ominously to ‘My dear and unfortunate successor’. Her discovery plunges her into a world she never dreamed of – a labyrinth where the secrets of her father’s past and her mother’s mysterious fate connect to an evil hidden in the depths of history.
Starting now.
Has been genred as Historical Fiction, Fantasy..
And have heard that Dracula prominently features in it. So very excited.

sure!!
Am in chapter 6 and am totally loving it. As of now, I am giving full marks to the author for building a superb atmosphere in the book. Perfect combination of gothic, eerie and historical aspect.
I have finished first chapter. Lonely child, mysterious books and letters, so far i'm liking it. I'll be taking it really. Maybe a chapter a day.
Into chapter 3. It is very I threshing as of now. Like the girl, I too am longing for more stories, which I will get only after my working day is over. :/

I don't know about others but am fascinated with how authors creates vampires in their books. they all survive on blood but they all are so different.

Indrani, i highly recommend this book! Its one of my all-time faves
why people are so averse to glittering vampires? its just one of their side effects of being turned into a vampire, but creepy though.
Manju wrote: "why people are so averse to glittering vampires? its just one of their side effects of being turned into a vampire, but creepy though."its a very Twilight influence Manju, i read it there for the first time (eye rolls) generally they are averse to sunlight :D
Manju wrote: "why people are so averse to glittering vampires? its just one of their side effects of being turned into a vampire, but creepy though."gals may find it cool but i don't like my vampires to be mistaken for an art and craft project.... :-D :-D :-D if i would have been there i would have pulled Edward's leg all the time.. and would have nicknamed him sparkles or shiny.... :-D :-D it would have been fun...
The most creepy vampires i have read were created by Dan Simmons in Carrion Comfort. If you haven't read it you should check that novel. There the vampires were mostly like humans but hey could make you do anything for them. They drained will instead of blood.
hehehe... it was my first vampire books, so didn't give it much attention but as i read more and more vampire books I came to know blood and sunlight are the things that most authors kept the same. And twilight vampires were not harmful, they're vegetarians. ;)
Manju wrote: "hehehe... it was my first vampire books, so didn't give it much attention but as i read more and more vampire books I came to know blood and sunlight are the things that most authors kept the same...."yeah, i too have read them and i thought they were decent reads. I couldn't understand why people loathed this series. Although i liked Jacob more than Cullen. I could relate more to him.
I am acquainted with Paranormal Vampires mostly and they're not very scary. the only book with scary vampires that I have read is Fevre Dream. i also have Midnight Mass and Children of the Night on my tbr.
Manju wrote: "I am acquainted with Paranormal Vampires mostly and they're not very scary. the only book with scary vampires that I have read is Fevre Dream. i also have Midnight Mass ..."Manju you've forgotten Subject X, Babcock and the lot?! how could you?! :D
Manju wrote: "I am acquainted with Paranormal Vampires mostly and they're not very scary. the only book with scary vampires that I have read is Fevre Dream. i also have Midnight Mass ..."Fevre Dream and Children of the Night is on my list from a long time. Someday i'll read it. Midnight Mass looks intriguing. Added it.

Am on chapter 18 now and the story is positively thrilling. The overall writing is superb and the building of scenes and description of places is fantastic. Won't say much about the spoilers as you guys are yet to reach there... ;)Inny - Don't go by just the vampires, it is a lot more than that although it does form a basis of the plot.
Vikas..Carrion comfort in my radar, now.
I was scared of Dracula. ..but had a smallish crush on Edward. >▪<

In chapter 7. The flashback story about Vladimir continues. There's darkness and intrigue all around.
Am loving the dark portrayal of Vladimir the impaled. Thee way seemingly normal people slowly transform.into inhumane (ex: the bookbinder) is scary.
And I totally couldn't sleep . peacefully yesterday night. The story has got into my marrows.
