I love Garfield and Oldie. I also liked Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, Snoopy and Woodstock from the Peanuts comics, and that's all I can think of.
Watership Down by Richard Adams -- its between Hazel and Fiver. Oh, I love all the rabbits in their group! Yes, of course, I do love Winnie the Pooh. And how about Despereaux in The Tale of Despereaux.
Timmy from the Famous Five series...It's been nearly 7 years since I read the series and still remember him...:)
Nice choices, everyone!
I have to admit, my personal favourite is Wellington Womble. I've always related to him - being a bookish loner, and all. ;)
Eeyore comes a close second!

My favourite bedtime stories as a child were 101 Dalmations and Lady and the Tramp. I loved the Tramp so much. Moving on Black Beauty was a real hero. My absolute favorite though is Gromit (dog from Wallace and Gromit).
Oh, Mayme! Pantalaimon is my top guy, too! I reference his and Lyra's connection when I let my little boy go away from me for an extended period, like overnight ;)
Hobbes, Calvin's tiger. Winnie The Pooh & Piglet
Buddy from "A Dogs Purpose"
all the characters from "Animal Farm"
I love Eeyore (Winnie the Pooh), Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes), and the characters from the "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" series.
Ferdinand.Eyeore.
The Psammead - it looks more like an animal than a fairy in the illustrations and I always thought of it as a kind of exotic mole - lol
Ratty and Mole in The Wind in the Willows
Boxer in Animal Farm
Peter Rabbit and the Flopsy Bunnies
Odie of course! I also love Pan from His Dark Materials, Buck from Call Of The Wild, Piglet, the moles and hares from Redwall, and all the Beatrix Potter animals. Oh, and Crookshanks!
There are so many beloved characters mentioned here! Recently I read Miss Jaster's Garden and was absolutely charmed by Hedgie the Hedgehog -- so polite!
There are so many! Lots of the Beatrix Potter animals, & those in Wind in the Willows. My newest discovery is Nana in The Travelling Cat Chronicles - I only finished reading the book early today, but already know I will read it again.
I almost forgot the animals who made me fall in love with animal stories- Ralph S Mouse from Mouse and the Motorcycle and Bunnicla, Chester, Howie and Harold from Bunnicla series. I love how Chester reads and reads and reads, and references the books he reads in the narrative. It's a great way to get younger kids interested in other books as well as hilarious when he misunderstands things.
"Why isn't this steak working?!"
"Maybe it needs to be New York strip instead of T Bone?"
