33% done and all I can say that coming from the show to the book it's a bit weird to see all the names and I've gotta say I prefer Lockwood over Smallwood for sure. Also, his best friend is named Dick. I know, I'm a child but onto spoilery things (view spoiler)[I know Damon is the raven or at least that's the only thing that makes sense considering it isn't Stefan but what I don't get is why the chase to the bridge happened and all that stuff with Bonnie's grandma too. It's a bit more complicated than I thought it'd be. (hide spoiler)]

62% done and I've gotten used to the name changes. I've even started shipping Elena and Stefan which is something that did not really happen on the show. Even the instalove is ok to me because of the whole destiny thing but (view spoiler)[it still feels a bit weird having her say she loves him the second time they kiss. Also, Damon is super creepy in the gym scene. Holy hell was that freaky.<\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

I had trouble liking her as well until around chapter 7 or 8. Now she's growing on me a bit.

68% done (view spoiler)[Someone needs to teach Elena about vampires before anymore dogs or people die. Girl is not that bright inviting just anyone in the house to kill her friend's dog. (hide spoiler)]

48% done (view spoiler)[ Freakin' Elena. Ugh! Stefan saves her from Tyler and instead of thanking him she is still a spoiled brat and is like "you owe me an explanation." Okay, it's not quite that, but that's how it comes off. HE DOESN'T OWE YOU ANYTHING, GIRL! And then he opened up to her???? Come on. NO. I know she looks like Katherine, but no. She's not Katherine. No explanation needed to be given. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Her saying she loved him the second time they kissed had me all up in arms. And then for a while, she seemed upset that he wouldn't say it back??? Girl, you just met. On top of that, you haven't really even talked to each other! Take a chill pill!!!!! I clearly struggle with instant love. xD I do agree, that gym scene was a little creepy. (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[That ended in a cliffhanger! By the end, I didn't hate Elena as much as I did throughout the rest of the book. I feel bad for Stefan though! Damon has been pretty horrible to him which was evident by the ending. (hide spoiler)]

I actually ended up liking this book a lot more than I thought I would surprise, surprise. And like you said (view spoiler)[I did not hate Elena as much towards the end. The instalove actually made a bit of sense to me coming from the show and omg you are so right about Damon. He was absolutely evil to Stefan and just a cruel and creepy person overall. I'm excited to see how his character progresses in future books. (hide spoiler)]

Okay, so I’m probably going to spend a lot of time comparing the book to the tv show but I can’t help it XD

Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[And I mean already there are some changes... such as the fact that Elena’s younger brother doesn’t exist. He (Jeremy from the show) = Margaret (I think...)

Also, Elena is blonde? That’s pretty disconcerting XD

And there appears to be a Meredith? Who’s that? Is she a replacement for Caroline? Because it seems like Elena’s two best friends may be Bonnie and Meredith in this...

At least the weird crow thing is still in here I guess? Does that mean Damon is around somewhere? We’ve got Stefan so far after all... (hide spoiler)]

- Is Vicki a vampire already?
- Are Vicki and Matt actually siblings in this one?
- Was Tyler going to rape Elena?
- What the heck happened with Vicki and co after Elena left?
- Did Damon do it (as in the show) or was it Stefan this time?

And probably the most important thing.. how the HECK are Stefan and Elena supposedly “in love” already? They’ve literally been together for something for ONE FREAKING NIGHT. WHAT THE FUCK. (hide spoiler)]

It’s completely ridiculous and cliches but sometimes you need that tbh XD and it’s great seeing the differences with the tv show. Don’t think I’d mind continuing - even if just to see where it goes ;D

Chapter 13: (view spoiler)[Either this Katherine is truly some ‘innocent’ child-like woman who doesn’t understand the consequences of her actions... or she is manipulative in a very different way to the Katherine of the show. “I choose you both and we will be very happy together forever!” ...what.

I find it really odd that the hatred between Damon and Stefan started PRIOR to the two becoming vampires as well o.O That Damon hates Stefan because his mother died as a result of a troubled birth? VERY different to the show.

But is Katherine REALLY dead? I don’t think I’ll believe that easily :|

Also... 15th century Florence? These two are WAY older than in the show! XD (hide spoiler)]

Did you do the non-reading challenges? The one that was Elena, I was so sure it was Elena, but then the clue was something about her sister, and I knew that she didn't have one (not based on the show anyway). So that really set me back :/

I really wish I could read now, like you're doing, but I've just got too much on my mind.

I did! That one really bugged me until I came across the book and remembered how different the book and tv show were. I’d read somewhere that the way Caroline looked in the show is roughly how Elena was meant to look, and that in the books she had a sister instead of a brother. Otherwise I probably would’ve completely dismissed it as an option XD

Well right now I'm listening to audio while I play Candy Crush, but I really should be studying for my test on Tuesday (which I'm really worried for because it doesn't make sense), or doing my tax assignment which is due on the 19th.

But the more I study, the more confused I get, because I can't figure it out myself, it just doesn't make sense.

Yeah I used to watch The Originals at the same time, but then I had too much on my plate so dropped it to just watch TVD, which I eventually dropped anyway... I hate how I want to watch shows, but then I just can't get around to it unless I have nothing else on, otherwise I just feel like I'm wasting time.

Yeah especially tests that I know I'll need in the future, this one's accounting info systems, so I need it.

I’m behind on all the shows I used to watch constantly, and just seeing the list of episodes I need to watch is seriously daunting. Plus, there’s new shows coming out all the time that I want to watch, and books I want to read and just... there’s not enough time in the day 😂😂

Yeah I'm the same!!! And then I find if I do have free time, what I'll do is just watch booktube, or play Dota, rather than read/watch tv, because those things take a lot of hours in order to feel productive.
