Derek and Brandon Feitcher on YouTube. they have hour long videos of just instrumental music based on themes. if I'm reading a fantasy I can listen to midevil music, sci-fi it's future tech music, historical Egyptian fiction, they have Egypt music too. Pretty good stuff, usually very relaxing.
Cool idea -- I might try that as well! Variations on a theme: One of my local bookgroups uses food as a theme; so we choose dishes based on the locale of the book's story.
Lol @ DostoevskyIf I don't do a classical mix, then I often choose Mozart (esp if I'm trying to pick up a new concept or idea) or Canon in D (if the subject matter is not too serious).
I just finished reading one of the best books ever, "A Gentleman in Moscow," and it would have been perfect tohave listened to Dostoevsky during that reading.
Good topic. It can depend on my mood and what I'm reading, but classical in general works as good background music. Also things like Mediaeval Baebes and "trance" type electronic music.
Classical music for me as well, a bit of jazz, Julie Fowlis' songs -she sings in Scottish Gaelic; I used to live in Scotland 2000-2008- and I absolutely adore the album Wood by French artist Greg Baumont. He released it for free in Jamendo a few years back and I am glad I found out about it.https://www.jamendo.com/album/347/wood
