Nearly a year before I submitted the manuscript for How Will I Talk to Abuela? for publication, I shared the story with my friend, Alma, a 2nd grade teacher at a local school. At the time, the manuscript title was David Ha-Ha Hubbard. After listening to my reading of it, her immediate response was:‘My students will love this book! Publish it now!’ the title alone provides a potential reader, or buyer, clues to the theme of the story.
