I am a born again Christian, in the PAS community. That is the Post Abortion Syndrome community. I decided to bring to light to anyone who listens about two great books that can help young women PREVENT abortions. They are Christian fiction books - and clean romances - but they are polar opposites but they compliment one another.
The first is Francine Rivers' Atonement Child. She is a college student. She gets raped. Everyone pushes her to have an abortion - and the worst thing of all is she is engaged to an up and coming minister to be and her family has lots of secrets. I can't tell you everything, but she makes the right decision - and finds He has His blessings on her. I love this book. I cried. You will re-read it. Atonement Child is called that for a reason.
The other book, almost a companion book, is a recent book by Anne Hendricks. The book is cleverly titled A Woman's Choice. She took a prochoice word and flipped it. The story is about a seminary student and her unplanned pregnancy with a handicapped child. It is heartbreaking because you really feel her grief and regret. As time goes on, over a twenty year period, you get to see Banner Atwood find Christ again (for she thought she was unworthy to be forgiven) to finding love again - but can she tell him? Banner is in the ministry to help PAS women - and it's a secret. Her choice is to live again and live for Him.
Both books can be used to prevent abortions if these clean books are shared with young people. One shows what doesn't happen and one shows what does happen. Life is beautiful: this book shows both of those things.
