Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments I'm stuck between Night Owl and The Sweet Gum Tree.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments I haven't read The Sweet Gum Tree. I loved Night Owl, so you may not like it. :-/

I know SGT will be swoony. Is NO swoony or angsty at all?

Michelle (michellesantiago) | 299 comments Hmmm... what to read? Girl on a Train?

Michelle (michellesantiago) | 299 comments What's everyone read that I haven't?

My guess would be Him.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I still haven't read March's book. I totally forgot this theme. Need to put my thinking cap on.

It's angsty. Maybe slightly swoony?

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol. NO is angsty. And a bit swoony. Also, youd meet the manatee.

Fabi....3 words. Sea. Of. Tranquility.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Let's see.

The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo
Into the Dark Lands
Lord of Scoundrels
Unholy Ghosts
Fifty Shades of Grey
Thoughtless
Easy
As You Desire

Well, I have choices.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Also a ton of Kinsale.

bev, you haven't read the girl with the dragon tattoo? (Oh yeah, that's right, that's the point of this month's theme, lol). It's really good. Not a romance, but a terrific read. The books are much better then the films btw. I think you would enjoy Lord of Scoundrels too. It's a fun, saucy HR. Or bev, I know, what about LAUREN GILLEY?

I'm eeeeppping cos I haven't done March's read yet either. I'm sposed to be reading Thoughtless, but I've gotten sidetracked by some great Nia Forrester books. Must go back to Thoughtless and try again.

My April read was supposed to be The Hating Game but I haven't actually bought it and it's 17 aus dollars which is outrageously expensive for a kindle book so I'm gonna rethink.
Possibles:
Night Broken
Mists of the serengeti
Ummm - I'll have a think about what else?

message 14: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments I have the choice of
Wrecked and Ruined series
Night Owl (Which every time I start, I don't want to continue reading)
Comfort food
Landline
Dirty Red

Just a few. Honestly, I haven't updated all my books in a while and added them to Goodreads.

message 15: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Robin, I loved Night Owl, not sure if you would like it. I disliked Sweet Gum Tree. But everyone else loved it. I think Maryse has spoiler free reviews for both of these.

Michelle, HIM is AWESOME!!!

Bev, I loooooooooved Easy. Its my fave college romance.

Tessa, Dirty Red was good...total mind f@ck!!

Jan, I wouldnt splurge on Hating Game. I didnt think it was anything special. Luckily, my library had it.

message 16: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Sea of Tranquility is my pick!!

message 17: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Bev--if you love PnR, then you should read Unholy Ghosts, hands down--awesome and different series! One of my faves. If you want new adult and angst, read Thoughtless. If you want dark, read Night Owl. For some reason, I'd think you'd roll your eyes frequently with FSOG, but I could be completely wrong!

Jan--Mists of the serengeti!!

Tessa--Comfort Food is really good if you like the kidnapping thing; Dirty Red (and the whole series) was awesome! And I also loved Night Owl but haven't read any of the others because I got mad because they were so expensive after the greedy publishers got their hands on them.

As usual, I have no idea what I'm reading. I have to tackle March first!

message 18: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments R. I'm a little iffy about Night Owl because each time I try, I get bored.

I think I need to re-read Unholy Ghost. I wasn't a huge fan the first time, and can't seem to start the second book. All I remember is an airport.

Bev, I want to shout Thoughtless, but I think you'd like Lord of Scoundrels, Easy, or, (Even though I've not read it) The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. The synopsis sounds like something you'd enjoy. Is As You Desire by Connie Brockway?

My pick is going to be either Landline or Dirty Red. I don't want to commit to a dark read when I finally am reading them again, and Night Owl is really an iffy book. It might end up being a DNF in the end.

message 19: by Anna (new)

Anna Penwick (annapenwick) | 166 comments bev- Try Lord of Scoundrels I loved it.

Tessa- I haven't read any of your picks.

I have several choices Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan , Hopeless (Hopeless, #1) by Colleen Hoover , The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay , Sweet Thing (Sweet Thing, #1) by Renee Carlino , The Opportunist (Love Me with Lies, #1) by Tarryn Fisher , The Edge of Never (The Edge of Never, #1) by J.A. Redmerski . They all look good.

message 20: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments You have three I five starred on there. Archer's Voice, Sea of Tranquility, and The Opportunist. Hopeless was a four star, and the Edge of Never... I didn't like it too much. I know so many did, but it was a miss for me.

Never read Sweet Thing. :D

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Ive read night owl and enjoyed it. The second not so much and not tried the 3rd at all.

There is a theme, I think, of retrying a book you didn't finish coming up. So, that could be your Night Owl month, Tessa.

Yes that is the author. So many HR readers love that book and author, like a modern classic in that genre. It has that You are my Egypt passage. I believe Kleypas had a character in a CR use that passage for a love spell, lol.
Of course Chase and Kinsale aee beloved in that genre too.
Gah, love Flowers from the Storm.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Archer, Sweet Thing and The Opportunist could be on my list as well. Actually Archer and Lord of Scoundrels I have started before. Nothing wrong with the books im just easily distracted.

Sea of T and The Edge of Never are both great reads.

Tessa, Landline by Rowell I loved. But it is not a dark read or super duper angsty.

message 23: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Anna, my vote from your list is Archers Voice or you can read Sea of Tranquility with me. ;)

I wasnt thrilled with Hopeless or Edge of Never. Opportunist series is awesome, but you have to read all 3 books. I havent read sweet thing.

message 24: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Bev, that's why I'm not sure which. Half the time I want sweet, and the other half I want angsty. That's why I grabbed the Jude Devereaux books at the library. They are sweet. The angst aren't high, but they leave me feeling all happy.

Bev, I'm going to be honest. I read As You Desire but honestly, I can't tell you anything about it. It didn't stick in my head.

message 25: by Anna (new)

Anna Penwick (annapenwick) | 166 comments :) Well that made my decision as clear as mud. This might just come down to my mood when I'm ready to read my challenge book.

Leslie- I've never done a buddy read before so I don't know if I should say I'll read Sea of Tranquility with you. I get distracted by my library books. I don't want to be accused of abandoning a BR. ;)

message 26: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments No pressure Anna, if we both end up reading it, we can discuss when finished. I'm always game for a BR, but it can be stressful if you want to read several books at once. Dont worry, Maryse is dubbed as worst buddy reader ever! Hee hee

message 27: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Leslie and Anna--I'll read Sea of Tranquility with you!! Just let me know when, and that takes care of my April book!

Nay is back baby!!!

message 29: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Yeah, I'm trying...

Still trying to finish my BR with Ela (although she's probably already finished!) so that I can start the one with Robin later today (hopefully). If I could just keep my eyes pried open while I'm reading. Either the steady beat of my new heart or one of my meds is making me so sleepy! lol

message 30: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments My April read is Thoughtless...so if anyone is thinking of that and would like to Buddy Read, let me know.

To those of you with Mists of the Serengeti or Archer's Voice on your possibilities list, I highly recommend both of those!!! Oh Archer!! Sweet, beautiful, Archer. I love dat man!! And Mists...well, that book was so moving!!

I'm super easy, Renee. I'm good whenever you are. and if you want to squirrel, that's OK too!

message 32: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Well damn....April has begun!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Lol Ela :-) I'm trying not to feel overwhelmed, but I haven't read March's pick yet. :-/

message 34: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Well shit Fabi! I think I finished my March pick within the first few days of the month (not bragging just stating fact)!

message 35: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments APRIL - All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood

AND I need an new May book since I read Wolfsong with the January BR'ers for that challenge....

If I recall, May is the month where we force our selves to basically read something we wouldn't normally???

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that is this month. What is May? I need to go back and look, ive forgotten the themes, lol. Makes for a fun surprise though.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok so this month is the book we are scared of and May is Nay's try again. So, yeah. Lol.
I have so many of those.

Me Before You.... that's mine. I can't believe I haven't read it. its the only month I has picked right off the bat, as soon as the themes were announced I knew what I was reading in April, LOL! on that note. I may read SoT too...because I have I haven't read that one either LOL!

message 40: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Fabi should read SoT *lmao* Do we have a month with "I don't like that title so I won't read it"?

message 41: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments From Original Post: (I'm not even going to try what June means)

Tasha for April - "everyone" has read but me

Nay for May - try, try again: book you started but never finished

Bev for June - I need my girl by The National: https://www.google.com/search?q=the+n... use this song, lyrics, video etc to inspire your book choice

Me Before You - what a freaking sobfest!!! Although I think I definitely cried harder at the movie, which I went to see probably 10 times. It may have been the butter your own bucket of popcorn that I could cry into at the movies, but I just couldn't get enough of it - and then I bought it!! I think I liked it :)

message 43: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Grey--I haven't read Me Before You either, so you're not alone!

I found a crapload of free books on Amazon yesterday, mainly NA I think, but I'll post them in just a minute if they're still free.

message 44: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I'm not too keen on reading Me Before You....

message 47: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Any of you who haven't read Sea of Tranquility - get on it!! That is an absolute all-time favorite of mine and I still remember the entire story.....to the very last chapter!!!!

bev, I think you would like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - I read the book before the movie came out and loved it! It was recommended to me by my 80-year old aunt!!

I have lots I could do for April:
Hopeless
Consequences
Driven
Gabriel's Inferno
Gone Girl
The Mason List
Landline or Fangirl

Any feedback from the peanut gallery?????

Gabriel's Inferno is one of my all time favorite swoonfests! But people either love it or hate it so definitely try a sample first. It's $$$.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Jean, Hopeless is the only one I've read from your list. It was good. Great twists.

message 50: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Robin, I already own all the books I listed so $$$ is no problem! I've wanted to read GI for so long too!

Fabi, don't know why I keep steering away from Hopeless....I keep thinking the MCs may be too young, but I made my friends read it and they love it! What is wrong with me?
