Ronelle Antoinette (ronelle_antoinette) | 8 comments I self-published my first book, and while it was definitely somewhat of a trial and error process, I'd say it was successful! I used CreateSpace and Kindle Direct Publishing to do it (I found Nook Press to be a pain in the backside).

Ah, now marketing is where you're going to be doing the most work. There are A TON of options and price ranges. You can do blog tours (those are good if you're looking to generate publicity and reviews at a decent price), companies like BookDaily that do email blasts, etc. I'd be happy to discuss more with you via email if you want. :)

Marta Curti | 1 comments I also self-published my first novel using CreateSpace and KDP. The publishing process was very straight-forward and easy. I am still working on promoting my work, and for me this has been the trickiest part. I use onlinebookclub and Goodreads to help promote the novel. And, I also try to encourage honest reviews on Amazon.com and other similar sites to help promote the novel. I have done this by offering free e-copies of my book to those willing to give an honest review. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the great info, Marta!

Jason Reynolds I've had the most success at events vs. just having copies of the book in the local indie bookstore. The events were a signing with several other authors that I organized; speaking to the local arts council (and they bought copies of the book), and an art crawl in the neighboring town.

I hope to participate in more events like the art crawl as I think having a book at a non-book event helps you stand out.
