Ok. Sounds good! My son has got baseball today but the weather doesn't look promising. Hope it's better for you over there.

Yeah, not that promising here either. We got about 3" of rain yesterday, but its supposed to be less today. We'll see. If it does rain, I'll just get to sit inside and read instead of outside :)

Really liking this so far. It's very mysterious. I'll prob read to ch3 since there was a forward.

(view spoiler)[I wonder why so many ppl go vanishing out in the woods, whether it be a campground or a trail. Its kind of scary. Wow and that story about the Indian princess. I almost felt like I was holding my breath the whole time Missy and Kate were asking those questions..I dont think that i could thow myself over a cliff amongst rocks and meet my death, do you? You are right, this is real life horror! Im reading ch 4 and Im fighting myself to continue. Im not sure I want to know whats going to happen to Missy.

I stopped at ch6 though to be honest, I could prob finish the whole book! I cant wait to see how this plays out(view spoiler)[when they found Missys bloody dress, that was just broke my heart. Its every parents worst nightmare. Then, after a few years Mack receives the note from God and decides to go back to that wretched shack, well, i think we all knew he wud. How could you not? God, being those two woman and a man was a little shocking. I was expecting just one person. It was neat how God changed the whole environment like he did. But now comes the hard part where Mack will have to ask about Missy. Im really curious how God will answer this question (hide spoiler)]

I'm not going to make it as far as you today, but this is more horror than a lot of the other books we read. The part at the campground would kill me!

Don't worry. It's been a crazy day for me, too. No reading time at all. Did go see the Kong movie with my youngest son just now.

Cool! Was it good? I just finished watching The Midnight Meat Train which is actually based on a Clive Barker short story that is in Book of Blood 1. Personally, it was too violent for me but the story was good.

Wow, you are brave watching a movie like that! Not surprised it was violent, though, lol. Yes, I thought Kong was pretty good. My 9-year old son loved it. We had a great time - we did the mall, the bookstore and then the movie. Reminded me of when I was a kid :)

Well I worked most of the day away but it wasn't too bad plus I'm off today. Yay!

I know what you mean. Not at all what I would have expected for him to find when he got to the shack. I wouldn't know how to react. I couldn't hardly read the whole searching part for Missy without a tear in my eye.

I was on the verge of crying myself:( I'm not sure I'll be able to read any of this. I'll be at my parents and baseball practice. My book is at home.

How long is ur sons practice? Ours is going on two hours...lol. Shud have been more prepared.

That's long! Ours are at most 1-1/2 hours. Definitely need lots of reading material.

I'm in the middle of ch8. A lot of thought provoking statements. I need to stop and digest it some....just like Mack.

Aren't the best books the ones that make you stop to digest for a while? I've always thought so.

if a book uses the bible as a base, it should be accurate in its usage... this book is not when it comes to scripture, which doesn't necessarily make it a bad book (though it is), just a poor reference for people who use scripture passages as the basis for an argument or as a way to interpret life... without the movie i doubt this book would have the new readership it does... i found the book heavy handed and not very well written... but people who love heartbreak and redemption will eat it up...

I'm not looking for accuracy, but I do like heartbreak and redemption so this suits me just fine:)

I agree, although I'm having a hard time seeing past the same blocks that Mack is seeing. In his shoes, I would have such a hard time.

I'm at the end of ch10. I think I know what is going to happen in ch11 :(

Now that I've thought about it(view spoiler)[ the judgement part, you know where the lady says to Mack that he needs to choose which of his children he wud send to heaven or hell? Man, that was just powerful and made sense to me. It made me think about all the times I've judged someone...lol. It's hard though. It's almost human nature. But seeing it that way helped me understand Jesus and why he died the way he did (hide spoiler)]

Very true, and interesting to think that I hadn't thought of it that way before. Pretty cool that it could be put in simple terms like that, also. You are right about it being human nature to judge. Its what we do. I did need the tissues, also!
