Justin hands down! I've read this book aloud about twenty times (I'm a teacher :0), and every single time I fall in love Justin the rat all over again! I know that sounds unbelievably odd if you've not read this book but . . . trust me. He is truly an underrated literary hero!

Nicodemus was my fav. as a kid. Awesome name which I used for any number of childhood pets, and I was always a sucker for "wise and grizzled old man" characters even as a youth.

Plus he had the association of the character from the movie for me at that age as well, adding a wizard-like patina that made Nicodemus seem even cooler to preteen me.

definitely Nicodemus. he seemed so mysterious.
