Lissa walked into the library quietly, still clad in Shadowhunter gear and equipped with weapons. She tied up her bronze hair in a high ponytail, yet it still hung down her back in long curls no matter how high it was tied. Sighing, she did a quick round of the shelves and picked out some books for extra reading, and sat down in one of the many chairs in front of a small table.
Andrew strode into the library. He had a bit of spare time. He was wearing some worn blue jeans an a plane black t-shirt. He picked out a book on various swords, then looked around where to sit. He saw Lyssa sitting by a table and decided to join her. She was a year younger than him, but all living together like this, he pretty much knew everybody. He sprawled into a comfortable armchair. "Hey Lyssa." he said, his voice lilting with its irish accent. "May I join you?" he asked tentatively, not wanting to bother her if she was busy.
Lissa looked up. "Of course," she said politely, "May I ask who you are?" She had seen him somewhere, around the school, but didn't quite know how he knew her name. She shrugged that off, grateful he didn't call her by her real name.
Andrew's eyes widened slightly, when she asked who he was. "Ouch." he muttered. But, then thought it was easier to know those who were younger than you, than those who were older than you. "Andrew Collinwood." he said and held out a hand to her. "5th year." he added.
Lissa immediately felt guilty, she hadn't meant for it to come out like that. "I'm sorry," she said timidly, taking his hand, "I just meant to ask what was your name. It's nice to meet you, Andrew." She turned back to her book, biting her lip slightly.
((I'm so sorry I have to leave so soon, but this Aussie needs some sleep early. I'll reply in the morning. Bonsoir! :) ))
[[Night night Jada! Sleep well :) ]]Andrew gave Lyssa a smile. "No problem." he said warmly, giving her hand a small squeeze. "Just because I know who you are, doesn't mean you should know who I am. I'm normally found in the weapons room, not the Library. But I needed to check up some things about different types of swords." he explained. "What are you reading?" he asked.
Lissa smiled back at him. "I found a new weapon I quite liked, and I just wanted to check up on different materials. I don't think it is adamas, only seraph blades are crafted from pure adamas. I think it may be silver electrum." She reached into the leg of her boot and produced a black, rectangular stick. She held onto the end, twisted, and it expanded into the form of a fan, with razor-sharp blades threatening on the edge.
((OMR we do, don't we? XD))
((OMR we do, don't we? XD))
Andrew watched as Lyssa took out the weapon. When she showed how it worked, he was impressed. "Neat." he said in admiration. "May I hold it?" he asked.
"Sure," Lissa said, retracting the fan and handing it to him, "just don't stab someone in the process," she said, laughing. "So, what is your preferred weapon?" she asked.
Andrew took the weapon from her and tried it out. "I'll try not to do that." he said, his mouth quirking slightly. He unfurled the fan, inspecting it. "I think you are right, this is silver electrum..." he ran a finger gently along one of the blades, it was sharp and lethal. "Very good for a surprise attack." he commented, before handing it back to her. "Broad sword." he answered her question. "And yours?" he asked.
Lissa took back the fan, concealing it back in her boot. "My gold-electrum whip," she answered. "Do you - er, want to see?" she asked. She prized her whip, it was given to her by her father before he died.
Andrew studied her with his green eyes, yes she seemed like the whip type of girl. "I would, if you don't mind." he said with a smile. "I would show you my sword, but I don't carry it everywhere, too big." he explained.
Lissa smiled. "Yes, it would be," she said, laughing, "but next time I catch you in the Weapons Room I'll get you to show me." She lifted up her sleeve slightly, and revealed a snake bracelet that curled around her arm. "Zmey," she whispered, and the emerald eyes of the snake glowed. It expanded in size, and began slithering down her arm, until the whip was reaching the floor, and the end in her hand's grasp. It seemed like it was electrified, humming and flashing with it's inlaid electrum.
[[Jada, I'm laughing my ass off... "I can't show you my sword", "Next time in the weapon's room, show me your sword", hahahaha!]]Andrew whistled in admiration at the whip when it uncurled. "That is..." he searched for a word "Beautiful and amazing." he finally settled on. He looked at the snake head. "Hmm, we have the same colour eyes," he told the snake, as if it were alive. "Where did you get such a lovely weapon?" he asked.
((Cathy!! Oh my gosh i'm laughing so hard right now, ny cousin wants to know whats gotten over me.XD))
[[I'm sorry but I couldn't help it! I just realised how dodgy this group could be "Show me your weapon and I'll show you mine" and omgosh...hahahahahahaha! I'm sorry, I'm dying!]]
((I was struggling for words -.- don't laugh Cathy XD))
Lissa looked down, fingering her whip. "My father gave it to me," she said, "on my ninth birthday. He said it was once Charlotte Branwell's, as somewhere along the line the Clearhearts descended into the family tree." She retracted the whip, and it curled around her arm as a bracelet once more.
((I have to go - reply in the morning :)))

Andrew watched the whip disappear again. "It really is lovely Lyssa." he said warmly. He wanted to ask more about her father, but he knew they all had tragic stories here. "My sword has no such story. It was given to me by the institute. The only thing I have left from my parents, is my ring." he held out his hand where his family ring was visible. It was gold, with an ornate C on it, entwined with delicate branches.
Lissa smiled. "Thanks," she said quietly. When he held out his family ring, she reached out half way to touch it, but shrank back. "Uhm, may I - may I take a look at it?" she asked tentatively. She didn't want touch it if he wasn't comfortable with that.
"Of course." Andrew told her, giving her a smile, she seemed nervous and he didn't want her to be. He held the ring out to her so she could take a look. "May I see yours?" he asked, having noticed a ring on her finger, but not being able to see it properly.
Lissa looked at his ring. " That's beautiful, Andrew," she said, and she took off hers to let him see. "Here's mine, it stands for the Clearheart family." She explained, for hers had a C as well.
Andrew smiled, glad that Lyssa liked his ring. He gently took her ring and examined it. "The stone is so interesting..." he said, turning it all ways to see it in different lights. "What is it made out of?" he asked.
Lissa tangled a finger in a lock of hair, thinking hard to what her father had once taught her. "The metal is rose-gold, and the little gemstone inside the heart is blue topaz, I'm pretty sure." She said. All the symbols on her ring stood for something, not just for the sake of hitting it there. "You see, the blue topaz inside the heart is carved so that it looks like water. That stands for 'clear' and then the heart, well, obviously, 'heart'. and the C is for the first letter of Clearheart." She explained.
Andrew listened to her explanation and thought it was a very cleverly crafted ring. "It is beautiful." he finally said and handed it back to her with a smile. He watched her twirl her hair, she had very pretty hair he realised, but quickly stopped that thought. He cleared his throat, realising he'd been staring. "Um, would you like some help on identifying that wonderful new weapon of yours?" he asked. "It looks Asian to me." he commented.
Lissa's cheeks bloomed with pale pink blush; she'd caught him staring at her. She delicately placed her ring back on her finger. "Yeah sure," she laughed, "I didn't think you'd be very interested in this type of stuff, you know, examining weapons," she said, an amused smile on her lips.
Andrew laughed at her words, then took on a girly high voice. "Oh no Darling, I hate weapons, I much prefer Vogue magazine, their fashion tips are just fab." he pretended to examine his nails, like he'd seen so many girls do. But, he couldn't keep a straight face. So, instead, he looked through the pile of books Lyssa had and pulled one out on Asian weapons. "The Indians created this very clever weapon, called the Tiger's Claw. You wear it on your hand, sort of like a crossbar going over your palm, and these sharp blades hang between your fingers, so when you make a fist the blades stand out and make for a very effective surprise weapon." he explained. "Perhaps your fan is something similar." he said flicking through the pages.
Lissa choked up laughing. "You'd make a seriously good girl, Andrew," She said, her jade-green eyes smiling with her. "That's amazing - the Tiger's Claw, I mean," she said thought out loud, her voice full of wonder. "Well, the fan works as a sort of boomerang, as well." She said, pulling out her fan again. She expanded it and threw it gracefully, and it flew across the room and back into her hand. "Like so," she demonstrated, "except I don't think it's very good to throw weapons around in a library, so yeah," she said sheepishly, running a hand through her hair and shoving the retracted fan back in her boot.
[[For who, the books or the students xD ]]"Oh you flatter me Darling." Andrew said, when Lyssa said he'd make a good girl, he fluttered his eyelashes at her. He was glad he could make her laugh. He was even more impressed when she liked and seemed interested in the weapon he described, one of the signs of a true shadow hunter. He watched in amazement as she demonstrated what the fan weapon could do. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I'm not sure, Japanese perhaps..." he said musingly. |Then, laughed when Lyssa said it wasn't a good idea to throw weapons in the Library. "Probably not, the Headmistress would most likely kill us if she saw us doing that!" He flicked through some more pages, but Cathy wasn't sure where the weapon came from. "Hmm, maybe we should go to the training room later, if you have an hour off and experiment a bit." he suggested.
Lissa laughed at his 'girlness'. She flicked through a book, then fluttered its pages shut. "We could go now, if you like," she offered, as she was tired of extra reading and wanted to do something else. She quickly packed up her books, putting them back in their place among the shelves.
Andrew liked the sound of Lyssa's laugh, and decided to make sure she kept doing it in the future."Great." he said, closing his own book and putting it away. "I can show you my sword then." he walked to the door and held it open for Lyssa.
Rose walked into the library, thinking about what she was saying with Christian, she needed to study so she could pass her exams and become a shadowhunter. She walked out and pulled out a book on downworlders, before taking a seat at a table.
Stepping into the library Ella inhaled, the musty smell of books was strong in this room. She had come to return her book on the history of the London institute when she finished it after talking to the new boy Christian. Looking around she was surprised to see Rose Goodwill sitting down at a table reading. She hardly ever saw that. From what she knew, Rose more preferred fighting. She walked over to the bookcase behind Rose to find a new novel.
((*Goodwell sorry my phone changed it because I have auto correct! I'm really sorry! CURSE YOU AUTO CORRECT! XD))
Only a page in Rose's mind started wandering to battle techniques, and her conversation with Christian not too long ago. When she realised she was distracting herself from studying she wished she could throw the book across the library in frustration, but it probably wasn't the smartest idea. She looked behind her to see a girl, Ella she thought it was looking at some books.
Rose was looking at her. And it was not a good look. She looked extremely frustrated, although hopefully it was not at her. Suddenly her body seemed to move without her command and she sat down next to Rose. "You look frustrated, do you need help?" She had no idea where this was coming from. She bet Christian's friendly fumes had drugged her or something like that.
Rose couldn't deny that she was surprised when Ella came to sit next to her. From what she had seen Ella was quite a shy girl who tended to stay away from her, "I'm totally fine. Just living the torturous life of someone who needs to actually study." She said, a small grin on her face.
