Here are the sub-genres I can think of. If you can think of others to add to next year's challenge, just list them here.

- Culinary (anything dealing with food: restaurants, baked goods, etc.)
- Animal related (cats, dogs, birds, etc.)
- Craft related (any kind of hobbies - knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, etc.)
- Paranormal (witches, vampires, etc.)
- British cozy mysteries (We will change this to anything outside the US)
- Career-based cozy mystery (housekeeping, wedding planner, etc.)
- Holiday based (set during any holiday - Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines, etc.)
- Travel mystery (character could be on a cruise, touring another area, etc.)
- Historical mystery (any mystery not set in the present day)

Faith-Based ok as sub-genre but "No Profanity"? That I don't understand as a sub-genre mystery.

Betsy Not that this is my thing, but shopping related. MC owns shop or boutique. I do like a series which the MC has consignment shop. This could be pretty open ended.

Could this be included in the career related? I wanted to suggest beauty related but figured that could be included in the career category.

That might be a little too specific - but maybe just an older protagonist, say 65 or older. Carolyn Hart's Henrie O is in her 70s (Septuagen..."

There is also a series by Elizabeth Spann Craig that is good as well as the Bed & Breakfast mystery series by Mary Daheim. It's funny what comes to your mind when you are going through your daily book emails. LOL!

Betty (bettylouise54) | 41 comments Veronica Heley ''s Abbott Agency series would fit this ,also.
There is one I read a long time ago. Here first name was Goldie. ND was a jew. Lived in a retirement complex in Florida. There were six books in all. I really like them had all the paperback books and give them away. I can't remember the name. Help, it is bugging me.
There is also one that has a man as the MC that I like and can't remember much else.

Is it the series by Rita Lakin? She writes the Gladdy Gold series.

I know it's not sub genre but I was thinking what about reading a book where the author goes by initials or their first & last name start with the same letter.

That could be something other than sub genres -- Read a book from....

a favorite series
a new series to you
a favorite series of one of the mods

Coralee | 34 comments I'd be interested in a homeschooling setting as a backdrop - I get a lot of ideas for teaching in interesting ways from that community and they generally seem to be the 'cozy' type of folk! Of course I'm a sucker for stories set in educational institutions too because we can all relate!

message 22: by Coralee (new)

Coralee | 34 comments I noticed there are series about DIY home repair and renovation - that seems like a rich category for investigation!
