I mean, OF COURSE I like Sophie!! She's so dark and the opposite of a traditional heroine. Although I originally hated how she and Agatha were drifting apart, towards the end of the book I was screaming and pulling my hair out because I thought it was so unfair Sophie had to be the villain and Agatha had to be the "good guy." I just wanted her to win and destroy everyone, tbh.
I try to like sophie i really I know she cares about agatha i know she wants to be good really really bad. But she treated agatha so badly and selfishly in the first two books only caring about her happy ending then in the 2nd book Yes it was agatha's fault they got put back in the other world but once again sophie became selfish and only wanted what SHE wanted and tedros needs to get punched in the face big time
At first I deeply resented her. She was the pretty princess type of character. I find these characters incredibly annoying. I immediately liked Agatha. Though, later on in the book, their roles switched and I actually started to like Sophie better as I saw her darker sides.
She can be a bit frustrating during the book switching sides with her friends and the enemy, but I love her still the same.
Sophie is my favourite character actually, in A crystal ball of time she actually proves to be a great ally, in book 3 'The last ever after' she almost ended good but then also saved everyone with Agatha. Book 1 she almost changes evil to good and good to evil but once again gives in to the fact she is doing horrible things and jumps in front of the pen for Agatha.
I also just naturally love evil characters and the fact she does good things but is still evil leaves you wondering if she could be defined as good or evil?
She shows that you can still be beautiful even if they say your evil and can't be beautiful, which I'm still deciding if that's a good thing or not-
This series is wonderful and Sophie is one of the main reasons why. I also love evil characters because they have that mystery and strength in unknown ways but Sophie was a bit different, she was elegantly evil, like a black swan.
Even though she was a villain in most of the book she still proved good every so often.

I actually do like Sophie. Her somewhat horrendous perspective of things is incredibly hilarious and brings spice to the story. Also, it’s interesting to get the understanding of someone who is not a good person at all, but thinks they are. She’s a bit delusional, but that’s what makes her Sophie. And still, with all that, at her core, all she wants is happiness; and she does deserve that despite who she is and how she behaves— and her best friend. And Agatha wants the same as well.
I really don't like her (please note I am still reading the third book), she is selfish, annoying and thinks the world revolves around her. She's you typical girly girl and also she wants to take away Agatha's Ever After just because Sophie thinks that Agatha isn't fit for being the Queen of Camelot, instead of feeling happy that Agatha found somebody that actually loves her. Sophie is also always ignoring Hort, who, when he was a scrawny little boy, she ignored and hated, and when he got a lot more handsome, made him her bodyguard, and still treated him like dirt. Sophie also keeps on insulting the League of Thirteen, yes, they are a little annoying, but she shouldn't just keep on openly insulting them. Did I mention that Sophie tricked Agatha in the first book to switch their clothes, going off to the School for Good and leaving Agatha in the dusk. Sophie couldn't even do her evil homework without Agatha's help! Agatha spent nearly sleepless nights doing Sophie's homework as well as doing her own homework! Sophie's just the less intense version of the Evil Queen! She's always trying to appear beautiful and sweet when it's just making her an absolutely horrid person! In conclusion Sophie's practically the worst character I have read about so far, sometimes I feel she's even worse than the School Master.
I like her, but I hate the way author used her to further the relationship between Agatha and Tedros. she basically the Sharpay to Tedros(troy) and Agatha(Gabriella) romances.
I also feel that the author could have done more with Sophie because her story line was interesting the struggle she had with being good, her fear of being alone like her mother, and the fact that she thinks her doesn't love her. It would have been cool to see her actually develop from the narcissistic love sick girl into a good person that still have flaws. I think it would have also show that there's no real 100% good or evil, and that a person can change.
Also back to the reason why I like Sophie. I like her because she girly and likes pink (I know it's not the best reason to like a character but who cares).

I love her. She is just a misunderstood character. Her sassiness lightens up the story, and she is just a fun character.
I have to say something, it's your choice who to like and who not like, I like Sophie, I don't love her, but she's fine, like someone above said, she had suffered a lot of heart break, but I still don't like the way she acted, maybe it is because I'm a sucker for romace and lovey-dovy stuff, or maybe it is because I like people who wouldn't normaly be called "Good" but I just prefer Aggie than Sophie, not because I have anything to her, she's a good charecter and I like how the author had her charecter change thoghout the books, again, maybe it's because I am a sucker for love stories, or maybe it is because I just like Aggie better, but yeah, that's how I feel, also, i like what the person above me said, there is nothing wrong of being a girly girl and still liking feminism stuff.
She adds complexity’s to the story and I love that about her but her being vain and conceited sometimes gets on my nerves.
This is a hard question. Sophie is one of my favourite characters, even though she is intolerable. All characters are flawed, yet all readers are so blindsided they never try to see things from Sophie's point of view. They claim she is jealous and petty and evil. But Sophie's had had so much heartbreak.
Firstly, no, she did not love Tedros, but she cared for him all the same. Agatha swooped right in and stole Tedros away. You say she shouldn't be petty and to be happy for your best friend, but you'd be jealous and angry and vindictive too if it were you. Sophie really wanted to be good, but that year, she had all of her dreams ripped away from her, Poor girl.
Then Rafael comes. She believes she's found her happy ending. Therefore, she tries to take down Agatha and Tedros. She then nearly sacrificed herself to help them. Thus, she suffers another heartbreak, and another happy ending is ripped away from her.
Then comes Rhian, another happy ending. This time, Sophie is happy for her best friend. Then guess what? Her lover turns out to be Evil and yet another happy ending is ripped away.
And all the while, Hester and Anadil backstabbed her. Agatha was extremely rude and mean to her sometimes, too, but readers are too biased and blinded to see that. Don't you find that harsh?
In the end, Sophie's just a girl who desperately wants love and happiness. Who can blame her for being angry for not having it?
Please note I'm not justifying her actions - she overreacted. That I agree on. But still, she has reason to overreact. All I'm asking is for you to see Sophie in her point of view. We've all been too harsh on her.

Sophie is my FAVOURITE!!! I mean, I like Agatha too but Sophie is really underappreciated. Sure, she's SOMETIMES vain and all. BUT, she made everything right at the 3rd book AND did u know at the first book Agatha said she met the school master while Sophie gestured not to say anything then when Agatha got into trouble Sophie stood up for her when she could have kept quiet and save her own skin? AND when a branch hit Lady Lesso's face, and Agatha was going to be locked in a tower, Sophie said "No, it's my fault!" When again she could have kept quiet and let Agatha take the blame!? There are lots of small actions like this throughout the book and that's what made me really like her.
Yes. At first I liked Agatha better, but as the story progressed, I found Sophie's charachter flaws to be the best parts about her. She was a lot more complex than I thought, and I sympathized with her more than Agatha.
yes and i think she is the good representation of girls in real life , theres no such as 'angel ' in this world , doesn't mean every girl are selfish and evil . look at Sophie , she is us , she loves to take care of her skin , love her daddy , and want to make friends with other .
Well, yes and no at differnt points in the story her personality changes and first I thought I liked her but then I realised she was not just Agatha’s friend for s food deed but wanted to leave her home town even though she was fairly spoilt , then when they are at the night of the kidnapping I quite liked her because she revealed she deep down likened Agatha . At school it varies for example at the trial by tale she betrays tedros and expects him to Ben fine about it which makes me not like her , after 5hat she tries to kill everyone at the circus of talents and she is overall very stuck up ! So I guess there is more reasons why I don’t like her so maybe I generally just Donte like her personality ! My absolute favourite part with her is when she has to go home when they set all readers free because it teaches her a lesson of gratefulness !
I hate her but I love her - she’s a real bitch but she really cares about Aggie and tedros 😘
I like her and then I don't like her. She is very nice and has a good heart but when she is jealous, Sophie could be absoulutely evil.
I don't REALLY like Sophie, she's mean and selfish in the first few books (in my point of view). Though she did change a little throughout the book and became aware that she is evil and evil can never find love, I sometimes find her annoying. But about the book, when I was reading the first book, it took me a long time to understand the book...

I feel the same way, I DO NOT like her, she is selfish and anoyying, and she is a bit too full of herself, and I just don't like her, even tho she did

It took me a long time to feel anything but aggravation about Sophie. I found her shallow, vain, spoiled, useless, lazy, arrogant, opinionated, self-involved, self-obsessed, petty, jealous and ungrateful. While others in her village were desperate to save their children and her father wanted to keep her safe, Sophie yearned to be snatched from them and get herself a prince.
Unlike Agatha, whose loneliness and ostracization would make her wishing to be anywhere else more than reasonable, we never understand why Sophie wants to leave her village so badly. Is she mistreated? No. Is she hated by her father? No. Is she the victim of a wicked stepmother? No.
She sees her father trying to find happiness with another woman. The other woman isn't presented as being mean or cruel yet Sophie is furious. She doesn't stay and fight for her father; she wants to leave so that he'll be sorry and wish he hadn't ignored her. Unbelievable.
When she was thrust into the school for evil, I was certain it wasn't a mistake. Someone who gives people awful muffins that they don't want and lies to them about it just because she thinks it will make her seem like a good person doesn't win Good Person of the Year Award to me. Sophie didn't commit good deeds because she cared about the other villagers; she was doing it for her own glory.
I thought she would grow as a person once she realized that what she considered to be good qualities actually made her a bad person. But oh no. She betrayed her friend Agatha again and again for a pretty-boy royal, Prince Tedium. Feh.
What I liked about the book was the friendship at the heart of it, one about two girls rather than any romance. Agatha and Sophie finally realize that this friendship is crucial not their meaningless goals of being pretty or getting boys. That's what finally earned my grudging approval of Sophie. I hope to read the next book in the series soon.

I like how you put this, I just wanted to say that I don't hate Sophie, I just don't like her as much as Aggie, not even close.

I read the first one and honestly, i liked the IDEA of the book, but the execution wasn't...well it wasn't good. The setting and the pieces were there but it just didn't work. I feel like they're trying to have you NOT like Sophie, to the point where they try to cartoonishly villify her into making her an unrealistic character. I was wondering if they were going to do something else with it, but they didn't. So i'm more mad at the book than I am with Sophie. Also, if we're talking terrible characters, Prince loser takes THAT prize
I think that she's an amazing character, but as for a person? She probably wouldn't be the type of person I'd get along with in real life.
Well, yes and no. She is bratty, spoiled and was a bad friend to Agatha. Not to mention that she refuse to accept that she was not a princess when evidence proved that she was evil. She says she wants to be good but was it really for the right reasons and not just to have Tedros, a happy ending and all things she dreamed of. However, she has some good qualities as she did care for Agatha especially at the end and admitted her faults. Do I like her yes and not. Is she capable of change? I hope so. I only read the first book so far and can't wait to start the second.
Yes, she's so innocent and too nice. I love her because she wanted to change and wanted to be good.

She is my favorite character! I love bad characters, they bring a lot of life to the book in a way protagonists can never do. But Sophie has that inner conflict, and I LOVE how even though she's diabolical, she's still likes to be pretty. Usually authors try to makes their girl characters waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too: "Oooh, look at me!" "I'm a tomboy!" "I believe in feminism!" "Boys are stupid!" When the truth is; there's NOTHING wrong with liking pink and being feminine. So, yeah, HAIL SOPHIE!
