Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Sure, it's aged in effects, but magic doesn't die out. The charm of the movie will always survive, Christopher Reeve will always be a legend, and this movie helped inject life into the Superman story.

What did everyone else think?

Well said - I agree with all that. Just adding a little - I watched this again recently and I guess I had forgotten how awesome some parts were. Two in particular...

If by some chance you have not seen this - SPOILERS-----

The first is when Jonathan has the heart attack - it was filmed so well - Clark is playing with the dog and has no idea... it was just this tragedy that came out of nowhere... Very powerful scene.
The other being when Lois dies and Superman finds her.
Christopher Reeve delivers what is quite possibly the best acting in any film - EVER. First the anguish - then the pure determination to change it - you can just feel his power... and you believe.

Despite being dated and the issue with spinning the world backwards and what that would really mean - this movie is awesome and I can't see any reboot ever being anywhere near as good.

Just a near perfect movie and I never get tired of seeing it.
Christopher Reeve was perfect casting and the movie just gets so many things right.

You're so right about the scene with him finding her laying there dead and lets all his anguish out. It was an excellent acting moment and really amped the movie up. He seemed made to play Clark Kent/Superman with this one.

I also have a fondness for Margot Kidder. When she was on Smallville she did an interview that there was a plot line with Christopher Reeves character that she didn't agree with after he died, so she quit the show. I also read somewhere that with her manic depressive she had a breakdown and they couldn't find her for awhile, but found her near where they had filmed something with superman. Would have to find that article again to refresh my memory.

The Daily Planet is almost a character in itself this movie - loved Perry White, Jimmy, the whole building, just great.

I appreciate how alive they made Clark Kent as well as Superman, both to stand on their own but as one.
