"Still Waters Run Deep" Part 2
A Story of Romance, Deceit, Tragedy and Revenge at http://t.co/sq8AWquPag via @amazon
Jack McGuinness finds himself in the most horrifying predicament after he has an affair with young Iva Pender. He never considered that the consequences could be so catastrophic. For, nineteen years after he last saw Iva, she is back in town with a teenage boy, Archie, that she claims is his. When Jack’s daughter Shannon lays eyes on Archie, the attraction between them is instantaneous and Jack’s worst nightmare is about to come true.
Reluctant to come clean and risk losing his family, Jack desperately tries to find another way to break the young couple up. Unfortunately, the way he chooses leads to tragedy and he soon begins to discover that true love can never be defeated.
I self published three short collections of poetry in digital format and made them available to read for free here http://issuu.com/home/publicationsMy advice to anyone considering self publishing is to make sure the work goes through a thorough editing process. After spending money on a poorly edited book readers will naturally be put off taking that risk again.
My tip is to promote other writers of a similar style to your self, it's a great way to connect with like minded people and get your name and work out there. I promote my own work and work that I admire on my blog www.screamingwithbrevity.com
Thanks, Matthew, some great tips there!
Completely agree about editing, I think it may well be the most important part of self publishing. :)

Hi, Fiona, I have a free short video series that shows you how to do it and what sites to use. Just go to this page and go to the first programme and enter your name and email and you'll get an email with the links to the videos x

Thanks for the insight!"I have not tried smashwords. I went with amazon because people use it to search out books with their credit card in hand. I have a humorous novel and two short collections of short stories. I found their file converter fairly easy to use.
I did mine with Lulu.com and they were great and easy, but they take a few days to answer emails. Next time I will use Amazon. They were quick to answer emails and with Lulu, I make the least amount of money on Amazon out of all my options. I also agree that more people are on Amazon.
Smashwords distributes to Barnes & Noble, Apple, Scribd, Kobo etc.
You can also use D2D which is the same, but I use Smashwords for personal preference.
It's better to go direct to kindle for Amazon distribution but it really helps to be on all the other channels too. You could miss out on huge amounts of sales as Amazon only does ebooks for the Kindle and there are lots of other ereaders out there. x

I would also place a great deal of emphasis on editing. It's tough when you are starting out and are officially at 'starving artist' stage, but even finding someone else to look it over will help. Some people will overlook the odd mistake if the story is strong, but too many mistakes will put everyone off. If you publish through Amazon first then I would suggest making sure you don't join 'KDP Select' with your first or even second book. I did and am now locked into just Amazon for 90 days before I can try and sell my work through Smashwords etc.
