No this will be my 4th year attending - I was unable to go to Chicago last year. I will be attending part of BEA as well and depending on how planning goes may bring my kids in on Sat or Sun - I did that two years ago and they ended up enjoying it as well. I am a little disappointed that we are limited to two but do recall the lines and waiting/hoping to get tickets while you were there to be crazy so hopefully this will make it a little easier. Last time we went, we avoided the autographing area all together and did booth signings only (which were still forever but well worth it).
Is this your first time going? This will be my first time at BEA so I'm excited about that part as well
This will be my 4th BEA (I didn't go last year either) and the second Book Con. I was there for the first one and that caused me to skip the following year. I get that they should limit the amount of tickets, but 2 seems sort of a low number. At least 3 should be doable.
I have heard horror stories about BookCon and the first year was definitely a HUGE mess. I am glad it seems like it's a bit more organized this time around.
1st BEA??? You must be so excited. You are going to have a blast. Things sound like they will be a bit different this year, but hopefully still just as wonderful as always, with maybe less people. How are you attending? Blogger? Book seller? Publisher? ABA?
I think BookCon will be fun too, lots of interesting Panels...and yes the lines will probably be as big, but hopefully it will be a good time for all.
Are you flying in or do you live in NYC/ Surround Area?
If you have any questions or want some tips, please feel free to ask.
:-)
I live in the surrounding area - about 45 minutes away so will be commuting in. I am really excited - definitely overwhelmed already but hoping to be more organized this year.... I am going as a representative for my local library. How will you be attending?

I also hope it is better organized than the last time I went. It seems like they have the plan to be organized, it is just a matter of how they will execute it.
Is anyone else having trouble getting onto My Show? I want to start planning my days at Book Con, but having trouble accessing it.Is it the same as the Book Con App? Or is that separate?
Thanks so much!
Hey guys!! So this is my first time to (hopefully) go and I was wondering: are there any galley drops at Book Con or is it panels and signings?? And is there any advice you guys might have for a first timer?? Thanks!!!!

You also have to contend with a much larger and generally more aggressive crowd.
Definitely have a plan and arrive super early for any must haves. And have lots of backup options in case you can't get into a panel or signing you want.

You should also make sure and grab one of the Publisher Weekly magazines they give out at the event as most are in there too.
I've put everything that's been announced so far in my schedule, just sort for the BookCon days: bit.ly/bookschedule17

Vicky wrote: "Did everyone get the autograph tickets they were hoping for?"Wait those have already dropped? I thought you got them when you were at Book Con
I didn't get cassie Clare or Sarah J Maas for Sunday but it's okay since I've met them multiple times already what about you??
@Angel - This year they had ticketing in advance - which started at noon today. @Melanie - I got the 2 tickets I most wanted (Sarah Dessen and Maggie Stiefvater)for Saturday and some that I will be happy with on Sunday :) I am just confused at what the "free signing but books available for purchase" means....
Means you can bring a copy from home so you don't have to purchase any books. But that they will have books to be purchased so you can buy the books there to get signed as welll.
Ok I guess this is where I am confused - for Maggie S. it says she is signing her new book that hasn't been published yet - do I need to purchase the ARC or will they be providing it?
*cries* I didn't get my Book Con tickets till last night so I didn't get any of my most fave authors (Leigh Bardugo, VE Schwab, Lemony Snicket etc). I am thinking of getting Karuna Riazi and Nic Stone though for June 4 but nothing else is really available :/
I'll be there with my Camden Place by Allie Harrison on Saturday signing at 3:30. You can get my book! I'd love to meet you!
I just bought my tickets an hour ago! I know im late on doing so but this is my first year going! Ill be alone on saturday and then sunday my little sister is coming along!I'm so excited and dont know what to expect since im late in buying the tickets and cant reserve a spot, i still hope to try and meet some authors!

Heads up for anyone going to BOOKCON....they finally have signing info up. However, if you were thinking you could just go from signing to signing like one does at BookExpo...guess again. Anything happening in the Autographing area will require a ticket. They are limiting guests to only two tickets PER DAY.
On My 22nd, they will release the tickets on their page. It is first come, first served. You will have to decide which two authors you REALLY need to meet. If you want to see and meet others...you are out of luck. Unless by some miracle there are still tickets available the day of the signing. They will have them at registration, so not all hope is lost if you wanted to meet more than 2 authors.
I am attending, but I was mainly trying to make it to some panels and hang out on the floor.. For those who were planning on meeting all their favorites, they definitely won't be too happy.
