Fabi, in her infinite wisdom, noticed there are a lot of members here, that may be lurking and want to chime in... But might feel better having a thread to get to know each other better first. (Fabi...Is brilliant, btw!)

So, here we go. This is the welcome wagon! Tell us a little about you! Who are you? What is your favorite book ever? Where are you from? When is your birthday? Why did you decide to join us? How would you describe your stance on bully books? 🙃

message 2: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments lol I love that last question.

My name is Tessa, I'm from California. I have no idea at this point in my life what my favorite book is. Why wouldn't I join you? BULLY BOOKS ARE THE BESTEST BOOKS EVER!

:D

message 3: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Btw, that was an example. Go ahead and say hi!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments I'm kinda shy, but I love to wave at people.

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments R, The Man I Love, Texas, same day as Patrick Swayze's, desperate times, what are bully books?

message 7: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellesantiago) | 299 comments I have a feeling it's going to be the same lot of us answering these questions!!! LOL. Okay, here goes...

My name is Michelle. I live in Texas (now). Transplant from Cali. My birthday is in December. I hate birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper. My favorite book is... I dunno.... Outlander? I've read it so many times. I joined ya'll to find my next read and to chat with people who liked the same kind of books, since no one at work seems to. Bully books - hmmm... I like slow burn, love-to-hate books - but I don't want him to be a "bully", just kind of a jerk face for a decent mount of time. Then just plain old alpha will do. No whimps please.

message 8: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Oh, birthday in August.

R... R... R... Bully by Penelope Douglas.

message 9: by Anna (new)

Anna Penwick (annapenwick) | 166 comments My name is Anna. I live in Texas. My birthday is in September. I am a Virgo. My favorite book series is the Black Jewels by Anne Bishop. I decided to join so I can pretend I'm one of the cool kids. I like bully books I recommend Elite by Rachel van Dyken

message 10: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) My name is Renee. I was born and raised in Tennessee and live about 20 miles north of Nashville. My birthday is April 30, the same day as Sam Heughan! I was a lurker for years and years but decided to join after I got a heart pump and had a lot of extra computer time on my hands. I blessedly got a heart transplant on 2/27/17 and feel like a new woman!!! My friends here mean everything to me and have given me more support over this past, very challenging year than I could ever ask for!

I have different favorite books/series in different genders, but I'm among the 'Thoughtless' lovers, The Fever series is my fave for PnR if you don't count Feversong, I love 95% of what Kristen Ashley's written, The Golden Dynasty being my favorite, and I love over-the-top alphas and jerk-face bullies!

If you want to read an awesome Bully book, I agree that you must read Bully by P. Douglas!

message 11: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) My name is Jan and I was born and raised in south-eastern Australia. My birthday is in June and I'm one of the more 'mature' (OK, older!) members of this group. But I'm young at heart, and hey, that's what counts, right?

My fav genres are romance and science fiction. OK, these days it's mainly romance. I am also a big historical romance fan. I love hot alphas but my MCs must be people I can respect - they must have integrity. I find it hard to read books that are too angsty cos it just upsets me. (So no bully books and no cheaters!)

Current fav authors are Lauren Gilley, Nia Forrester, Mariana Zapata, Christina Lauren, and for HR, Mary Balogh and of course the legendary Georgette Heyer, a writer who started my love affair with HRs. Before Heyer, my fav childhood author was Enid Blyton and I grew up on the wonderful adventures of the Famous Five.

The last REALLY TERRIFIC 5-star book I read was The Come Up by Nia Forrester. The book I'm most looking forward to is American Hellhound by Lauren Gilley. Supposed to be out this May. CAN'T WAIT!

message 12: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Hi! I am Paula and I am from the UK. Birthday is in July and I think I am one of the older members but I love reading!! Can't think of a favourite book - I will give anything a try but not a fan of dystopian. Love bully books!!

message 13: by Niki (new)

Niki | 45 comments Hi, I'm Niki your newest lurker friend;) i decided to join in after all this time because you are a fun group who loves books!!

I live in Minnesota where it snowed today but will be close to 70 this weekend!! My birthday is in October.

Favorite book of all time is Kulti..and all of Mariana's other books are a close second along with my love for KMM and Ilona Andrews.

I love Bully books and my favorite one so far is Fear Me.

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments ...Waving like a lunatic...
Hi everyone! I'm Lisa. I have no clue what I did with all my time before I discovered Goodreads (and Maryse's Book Blog), but my TBR pile has grown exponentially into a true beast that will never be tamed because read one, add eight!!

I am originally from New York, but moved to Nebraska (Omaha) so long ago that I consider myself a Nebraskan. Yes, we do wear shoes and my best friend is NOT a cow!!

I was born in October, so that makes me a Libra and explains why I can't make a decision to save my soul.

My favorite book has to be Rainfall. That book hurt me badly. I walk wide circles around it and glare at it often.

Bully books - well, I love assholes/jerks/alpha dickheads, so I'm sure I've read some that would be considered "bullies", but not the ones most people here mention as bully books.

My favorite read is the damaged (physically, emotionally), non-communicative hero who just needs the right kind of loving to make him whole again...swoon!!!

I absolutely adore each and every one of the friends I've made here. You make my heart happy and you make me laugh!!!

My favorite book ever, that's a stupid question... who would ask such a thing? they should be voted off the island. errr...well maybe not that extreme, but I can't believe I asked what's your favorite book... that's just... wow, hardcore on the spot. I'll think about it and come back...maybe. I'm from NY. My birthday is August 24th and I am most definitely a cuspy Virgo... with some Leo tendencies, lol! Well, I started this place haha, so that's why I'm here... because we wanted a place to talk challenge reads off the main forum of Maryse's blog. Bully books... my catnip... Humina, Humina!

message 30: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 15 comments Hi there! I'm Lisa and like Jan I'm Australian. I grew up in a rural remote part of Southern Australia but now I live in the city. I love the sea and get a bit stressed if I can't smell salty ocean air everyday. My birthday is April 14 (Titanic and Abe Lincoln D-days). I find myself wanting to start conversations with "when I was your age....." so I am obviously OLD. I am a lecturer and clinical supervisor at a university and a devourer of fiction in my spare time. My favourite book. Too difficult to choose but one I recommend to people is Markus Zusaks The Messenger. I flove it. The first books I loved were Nancy Drew mysteries.
If I could (and didn't have RL to contend with) I'd move to Africa to work with vulnerable women and children. Maybe in my next life.

I miss all of your crazy when I'm too busy to stalk.

message 31: by Ela (new)

message 42: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments I love this!! I'm learning things about some of you which I didn't know before.

Let's see...I'm a Virgo...live in Washington state...not a spring chicken like Ela but not a cougar either (yet)...love nail polish and makeup...married my high school sweetheart who was a jerkface toad but I kissed him so he is now a prince...have a ridiculous amount of books in my Kindle and Nook libraries of which I am ridiculously proud...constantly crave the feels I would get back in the early days of NA indie books and from all of the books which came out in the PNR/UF boom after Twilight...don't really have a favorite book (too many dear-to-me reads that I could never narrow it down) but I love anything that makes me feel a f*ck-ton of feels. I also have a potty mouth.

I found Maryse and her blog a few years ago and have felt at home ever since. She's such an incredibly sweet friend who does SO much to help us feed our ravenous book appetites. As much as I love my IRL friends (and I hate saying that because it minimizes how much I consider all of you friends as well), I just don't have with them what I do with all of you in terms of being able to chat about how real our books feel to us. I feel grateful every day that I found Maryse, the blog, and all of you incredible ladies.

message 43: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments *whispers to Amy, I'm not really 28, I lied, I'm 31* no that's a lie too

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments *whispers to Ela*

And I'm 5'7" with an extremely youthful face.

Okay, 5'4". With heels. Hooker heels. And lots of makeup and beauty products.

Damn. I sound like a streetwalker.

That's true for me too, Amy. Couldn't have said it better.

And Lisa, Yep, I wore a navy shoe and a black shoe to work one day. NOBODY told me, so I didn't realise till I took them off at home that night. I tried to tell myself it was cos no one noticed at work, but I think they were all secretly cacking themselves with laughter every time I walked past them. Life is so busy sometimes. Ya just gotta go with it.

message 48: by Kate (new)

Kate | 26 comments Hi everyone! I'm Kate. I live in Tampa, FL and my birthday is in March.

Though this is my first time posting anything, I have been following (ok, maybe it's more like lurking/stalking) Maryse's Book Blog for a few years now. I guess I'm a bit shy since it has taken me this long to join the conversation lol, but I'm finally joining in on all the fun so I can vent to fellow book-lovers when the angsty books hurt my heart! 🙃

It is evil to ask what my favorite book is because there are WAY too many to choose from.....but some of my favorites include Bully, Beautiful Disaster, and anything by Colleen Hoover.

As you can probably guess from my love of Bully by Penelope Douglas, I obsess over bully books and all of those deliciously grumpy anti-heroes. *swoons*

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Welcome Kate!!! Sounds like you're one of the gang. Many of us love those books and those bullies. ;-)

Jump in on one or more of the challenges if you feel up to it. Leslie's challenge is ongoing. Bev's and the Pick for Me challenge run monthly so we're getting ready for June.

You'll notice we're pretty disorganised. We tend to talk about everything everywhere and don't stuck to the thread topics very well. So if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask - anywhere. ;-)

I look forward to chatting with you.
