Sandi: good luck on getting your reading groove back; at least you had Virgil Flowers, and the well written Daniel Woodrell that looks intriguing. ;)I started the Guy Gavriel Kay books years ago and need to get back to them on audio.

Daniel Woodrell
Short and spare with a coming of age in the Ozarks plot, this was so well written and very powerful but also a hard and depressing listen. The audio was narrated by Nicholas Tecosky who handled the material well.
Good Reads
John Sandford
While the plot in this entry in the series was pretty out there, Virgil and company always keep things entertaining. Listened to the audio version which was narrated by Eric Conger.
Ed McBain
One of the better plotted entries in the series. This book has Steve Carella and Bert Kling investigating a couple killed with a shotgun while Meyer Meyer and Cotton Hawes look into a stabbing death.
Guy Gavriel Kay
The final installment of the trilogy was a bit hard to get into at first but once I started to remember all the threads the story really got moving and I ended up finding it just as enjoyable as the first two books. Listened to the audio version which was ably narrated by Simon Vance.
OK Read
Steph Cha
I will probably give this series another chance since I did like the main character and her backstory but the plot in this book did not really hang together and the author tried too hard evoke the style of Raymond Chandler.
