OK, it is not a very good tactic to nominate a relatively unknown (in the English speaking word at least) author, I will nevertheless nominate Until the Debt is Paid. It deserves a chance.
1974's Dance Hall of the Dead by Tony Hillerman. Award winner and 2nd in the Leaphorn and Chee series. Available on Audible and should be in most libraries.

Dance Hall of the Dead by Tony HillermanFrom the ones I've read so far, they can be sort of read as standalones
Anchita wrote: "My nomination: Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
"I'm hesitant to add it, Anchita as it's only just recently been published.
We just like to ensure that everybody has a reasonable opportunity to read it and take part in the discussions if they choose. As far as I can tell, it's only been released in the last month or so, if not in early May.
I love gentle mysteries by Carolyn Hart. There is an Agatha Christie air to her stories. Carolyn's husband Phil died last month so her book production may take a hit. She is a trooper but can probably use boosts from her friends and loyal readers. Just saying....
Yes, Bill. May 2, 2017 is it's publishing date. It might not be available to all the readers. Well, no worries, maybe next time we can pick it up!
Sharon wrote: "I love gentle mysteries by Carolyn Hart. There is an Agatha Christie air to her stories. Carolyn's husband Phil died last month so her book production may take a hit. She is a trooper but can proba..."Carolyn Hart has three series - Death on Demand, Henrie O and Bailey Ruth Ghost and several stand alone mysteries. Which book/series are you nominating?
Sharon wrote: "I love gentle mysteries by Carolyn Hart. There is an Agatha Christie air to her stories. Carolyn's husband Phil died last month so her book production may take a hit. She is a trooper but can proba..."Are you nominating one, Sharon?
I'll keep the thread open for a couple of more days folks. Hoping for a few more nominations. Then I'll set up the poll. If you can't think of any 'H' authors, here are some possibles.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...
or maybe some thriller writers...

I bet this isn't all inclusive.. Good luck, anyway.
THE NIGHTINGALE by Kristine Hannah is an amazing book depicting crimes in World War II, particularly by Nazis in France.
Bill wrote: "Sharon wrote: "I love gentle mysteries by Carolyn Hart. There is an Agatha Christie air to her stories. Carolyn's husband Phil died last month so her book production may take a hit. She is a troope..."Nominate one of Carolyn Hart's books? Sometimes I feel like a ghost, sometimes I don't. If I have to pick just one today, it has to be DON'T GO HOME.
Sharon wrote: "THE NIGHTINGALE by Kristine Hannah is an amazing book depicting crimes in World War II, particularly by Nazis in France."The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
I haven't read. Does it fit into crime / thriller?

Are you nominating either The Nightingale or Don't Go Home, Sharon? I didn't realize you listed two different books.
I'd like to nominate THE DRY by JANE HARPER. It's a debut, taking place in rual Australia, published in 2015.
Bill wrote: "Sharon wrote: "THE NIGHTINGALE by Kristine Hannah is an amazing book depicting crimes in World War II, particularly by Nazis in France.,,I haven't read. Does it fit into crime / thriller? ..."
The Nightingale is an excellent book but it's not a mystery/thriller. The crimes in this novel are because of the war.
"Nominate one of Carolyn Hart's books? ... If I have to pick just one today, it has to be DON'T GO HOME.
This is #25 in Carolyn Hart's Death on Demand series.

Thanks, Nell.
Actually when I click on Don't Go Home, it says May 15 2015.

Bill wrote: "Actually when I click on Don't Go Home, it says May 15 2015. ..."You're right; it's #26 in the series came that out last week.
Unfortunately, not too many nominations for this category. I'll wait until tomorrow and then stick up the poll.
There aren't many authors with H as the beginning of the last name. I was going to nominate a Mary Higgins-Clark novel, but hesitated with picking one of her many books. I do like her a lot.
Sharon wrote: "I love gentle mysteries by Carolyn Hart. There is an Agatha Christie air to her stories. Carolyn's husband Phil died last month so her book production may take a hit. The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison (nominated by Natalie), and
The Dry by Jane Harper (nominated by Tone)Congrats on the selections. I'll set the threads up shortly. Enjoy reading and discussing.

Authors we've read as a group before are okay to nominate, but please make sure we haven't read the particular book. My next post will list the specific books we're already read.
NOW -- for the usual stuff:
1. If your nomination wins the poll vote, you will become the de facto discussion leader. Do NOT nominate a book if you do not wish to do this.
2. When a book gets to the poll, please please please -- if you don't really want to read it, don't vote for it.
3. This is not the place for authors to promote their own work.
4. If the book is in a series, it might be wise to start with book #1 rather than somewhere mid-series.
Let the nominations begin!
