Last week I touched on the importance of knowing that there are safe places to seek help when you are struggling. As I said last week, Thirteen Reasons Why is a great example of what can happen when those resources are not known or utilized. This week I thought it would be good to share some important resources here for anyone who might be struggling.

Online/Telephone Resources-

211 (https://www.nc211.org/ )- 211 is a confidential service through the United Way of NC that can provide emergency and crisis support. They can also help you find local resources available to you. You can search resources online or call 211 for assistance. The 211 phone line is available 24/7. They also provide resources and assistance for much more beyond mental health.

To Write Love on Her Arms (https://twloha.com/)- This website offers a blog with posts about finding help, finding hope, and just simply discussing mental illness. They also offer a crisis help line and other resources for finding help. They even have a page for local resources specific to the Charlotte area (https://twloha.com/local-resources/no... ). They also offer ways you can get involved and help.

The Trevor Project (http://www.thetrevorproject.org/)- This organization is specifically targeted to struggling LGBTQ youth. There is a space where you can be a part of a supportive community and talk to those who may be struggling with similar issues called the TrevorSpace and a crisis help line. They have a great support center to start finding help on your specific issues (http://www.thetrevorproject.org/pages...). They also offer education and training for those who work with youth.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (http://chat.suicidepreventionlifeline...)- You can enter an online chat or call a hotline number to be connected to someone at anytime. This is a network of crisis centers that have come together to form a national network that is available 24/7. They also have links to resources, a calming space with videos and guided breathing, and stories of hope for encouragement.

7 Cups of Tea (https://www.7cups.com/)- This is an online therapy resource. You can have access to chat session with a therapist or an active listener. You can get immediate access to an available online listener or find a therapist that you can have video chat or text chat sessions with. There is also group support chats and a supportive community available as well.

Book Resources-
Some books that are currently available in the library are listed below. These are just a few, so feel free to browse our online catalog at http://catalog.gastonlibrary.org/pola....
