Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments So, the solo movies come after the JLA...? Odd choice. Though, it looks like we have our JLA line up.
I'm interested to see if the TV Flash will be in the movie and who our GL will be.

and Sandman comes out just in time for Christmas?
Cause what's more christmasy than Neil Gaiman.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) That's quite a bit. Looks like a lot superhero flicks to look forward to

Absolutely, and judging on the kind of family I have, I think I wished my family was the Endless for Christmas instead.
Bur seriously, Sandman can be Christmassy.

According to reports, Warner is not interested in continuing on with Ryan Reynolds. There is talk of another GL or perhaps Stewart. But it seems that they may be thinking of someone relatively unknown.

SO, unless they change their schedule which they have before, it seems this is the way its fleshed out.

I did have this listed as well in my topic of almost the same name lol.
I will put here what I wrote there incase no one saw it.

This comes form a un-named but reliable source within the company.
The supposed delay in making Batman vs. Superman is so that they can line up all their major name stars for their future movies since many of them have cameo rolls in Batman vs. Superman. Which, in the same way that Marvel does with their movies, making sure said celebrities are available for those shooting times.

This is an interesting and forward move finally from Warner/Dc which have been accused of dragging their heels and not caring about their big screen presence.
I've never had a doubt that they would eventually get their stuff together.

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments Curious to see who they get for the Flash/GL movie.

That one sounds like it could be fun. Love to see them go up against Gorilla Grodd.

Jeff | 425 comments Travis wrote: "Curious to see who they get for the Flash/GL movie.

That would be awesome. Grood is one of the most powerful creatures in the DC Universe, and the most underrated. If its a team up, then your looking at at least three super villains in the mix. One villain each for the Flash and GL and one other villain to put them together since usually the Rogues and GL;s crooks don't have a lot of super intelligence to succeed. lol.
At least the GL villain should be Black Hand. That could possibly lead into a Blackest night storyline to rock the whole DC universe. I can dream cant I?

message 8: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments So apparently, DC was going to drop the bomb about their schedule of movies at the San Diego Comic Con this year. But, Nikki Finke, a Hollywood reporter that was part of Deadline and now has a new website of her own, was really the one to break the news about the list of proposed movies From Warner/DC.

Adding fuel to this gossip fire, filmmaker Kevin Smith, of Clerks/ Comic book Men fame, has now backed up this account of DC’s plans during his weekly podcast.

But even though this list has been confirmed by certain individuals, Until DC confirms it at the SD comic con, its still only a good rumor.

How do you rock a universe that hasn't even happened yet?
You gotta have a status quo before you can radically shake it to it's foundations...

message 10: by Ronyell (new)

Ronyell (rabbitearsblog) | 60 comments This is great! Finally, Warner Bros is going to give focus to the other super heroes in the DC universe! I can't wait to see how each character will be portrayed!

message 11: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments Man of Steel was a great movie, but received a lot of flack for the portrayal of both Clark and Pa Kent. A lot of fans thought that Pa Kent didn't act like "PA" Kent. But now that he's out of the way and the origin is done, DC can put The Batman into full swing and go out after Superman, since he is an alien with godlike powers.
It will force Clark to really come to terms to find out exactly how a super hero needs to be and how much collateral damage they should or shouldn't cause.
Its going to be an awesome film. I like the way Snyder can take comics and make them come to life.

message 12: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments Seems weird to do the team up movie before the solos, but maybe by doing that we can avoid every solo movie being an origin story and just jump right into the action.

Wonder Woman will probably need an origin, but Flash and Green Lantern can do that in five minutes and then go fight Sinestro or whoever...

I agree that Wonder Woman should get her solo movie out first before Justice League since she hasn't been exposed to the movies yet, but I agree with Flash and Green Lantern since they already got their origin stories told.

message 14: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I personally like the idea of doing the Team up movie first, it does open up for individual stories that can be brought over from one movie to another.

DC has the potential of doing something that Marvel hasn't done or cant do completely, and that's have other characters appear in each others movies, aside of the team up movies of course.

Since Marvel has different characters ball and chained to other studios, such as Sony paramount and themselves, it makes it hard to make a crossover film.
Warner/DC are the one company and can do a lot more if they really put their minds to it.
DC Characters are so steeped in rich history that they really don't need an origin to get to a team film.
It could be some very good planning ion their part.
I remain positive about everything right now.

message 15: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments So, Suicide Squad gets a movie before Wonder Woman...?
That seems weird.
It's like if marvel had done Guardians right after Iron man.

message 16: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I don't think it matters that the Suicide Squad movie will be before Wonder Woman, as a matter of fact I think its a good move to bring out a team that can operate at any time in any movie if need be. To think they can make an appearance for any reason as a team or separately.
I think its a good move.

message 17: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments Are they still planning on a Cyborg movie?
I'd heard rumors that after he's introduced in the JLA movie, Cyborg would get a solo.

Not a lot of faith in the DC movies, but I've always liked the character and would be interested in seeing him on his own.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 12 comments I'm super excited about the Suicide Squad movie. I've been reading the series and it looks like they got it pretty well.

Me too. Smallville didn't do a whole lot with him and changed the story for the show, but I was intrigued from there, and then further things I've watched where he's played small parts.

message 21: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments So, I caved and watched the Suicide Squad trailer and it did not suck.

Having Will say 'So, we're some kind Suicide Squad' was painfully bad and he and Harley get all the screen time, but come across as the weakest bits.
There were some nice action moments and the designs on Katanna and Croc were pretty good.
Lady playing Waller was good.

Still doubt I'll see this in the theater, but will definitely add it to my netflix queue.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I usually like Will but not sure yet on his casting. Leto either as the Joker. We shall see

If Leto would loose the grill and the tats, he'd look perfect.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Yeah the grill is a surprise.

message 25: by Jim (new)

Jim (jkmfilms) Well, I'm sure I'll see it on the big screen and hope for the best :)

I'll just go in without any expectations. Though that doesn't always help :)

Jeff | 425 comments Danielle The Book Huntress (Self-Proclaimed Book Ninja) wrote: "I'm super excited about the Suicide Squad movie. I've been reading the series and it looks like they got it pretty well."

Hi Danielle, so far the cyborg project is still being created and written. I heard the first draft was submitted to warner/DC and they had want to have a second draft that runs closer in story to what will be happening in the DCU movies. But im pretty sure its something they will need to have happen.

message 27: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments BvS was showed to two different groups of higher ups at the studios and they all gave it a standing ovation. that's a good sign. Im anxious to see it as well as the Suicide Squad. that will have a good appearance by the Batman. The studios are basically giving all the directors of all the DC movies carte blanc in their creations as long as the movies are connected to the bigger picture of what is happening inthe DCU. whether its a crossover or stand alone film. I think that's great. Once the bottleneck is released, the rest will come. I just hate to think that the whole DC thing is based on how well BvS does. I just don't think that's right.

I didn't read the first New 52 series, but have enjoyed the second one.
Nice to see Black Manta as a competent badass.

Weird that Deadshot is so pale in the comic...!

Hi Daniel..."

While my interest is low in the movies, I was hoping they'd do a 'Black Widow' deal with Cyborg and build up his story in the other movies and then have bust into action in either JLA or a solo movie.

His current solo comic is pretty good, hopefully they do right by him in the movies.

message 31: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments Its really hard to know just which direction the Cyborg story will go. I have heard different storylines that were reported or have leaked out, but nothing really conformed. One of which is obviously going to concentrate on his feeling of whether or not he's really human or machine. His internal struggle will be a major story.

message 32: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments So, I've seen the bits of Wonder Woman in BvsS and some bits about her solo movie and it does not suck.

With Wonder Woman, DC might actually get me into a theater.

message 33: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments The fact that all these movies are actually being not only written but going into production and filmed with cast is totally a sign that Warner/DC mean business. BvS, Suicide Squad and now Wonder Woman with Aquaman already almost done with the writing chores, they have a very definite direction they are heading in and that's forward.

message 34: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments well, they have a direction, but if they keep making them so dark, I wonder if they can see where they are going.

the trailer had me wondering if all the light bulbs in metropolis got broken in the fight with Zod.

HA!

message 36: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I don't think you'll be seeing every movie in the same light as it were. with different directors and crews, each film will have its own feel from each other. Warner/DC has according to reports given freedom to each director to tell the story in their own way as long as it stays in the circle of life that the bigger DC story has to tell. So with that, I think each movie is going to look and feel different.

message 37: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments Really hoping they try different tones/ideas with the DC heroes, as the tone of Man of steel is the main reason I stayed away and the thought of doing the entire JLA with that same vibe was a guarantee that I'd stay out of theatre.

The idea of WW being a period piece has potential.

message 38: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments the whole WW movie is not a complete period piece it starts out there and makes it way to the present

message 39: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments Jeff wrote: "the whole WW movie is not a complete period piece it starts out there and makes it way to the present"

Interesting.
So, we start WW's story in BvsS, her movie then goes to the past and then gets back to 'now'.
She then becomes the first super hero of the DC movie-verse.

message 40: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments well yes and no. I mean Batas an d Superman did come before the WWII era. But it probably would make her one of the first female super heroes. So she makes an appearance in BvS her origin takes place in the past. And then shifts forward tot he present again, possibly leading up to her appearance in BvS. I mean that would be the progression I would assume its meant to take. According to the writers of the film, Chris Pine who is supposed to be Steve Trevor is supposed to play various roles in the film. Not quite sure how that is supposed to work out.

Yeah, but movie-verse timeline is WW in the 30's-ish, Batman and then Superman shows up.
So, despite him being in his 40's now, Batman is not the oldest or most experienced of the big three. It's the girl.
I like that.

This is what makes me crazy about the DC movies, buried under all the dreary 'realism' BS are some good ideas.
They just can't get them to click or focus on them over the 'aren't we clever and not doing just super heroes' stuff.

Wait and see.
I have a glimmer of hope for Wonder Woman and Cyborg.

message 42: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments oh yeah I mean I agree that there is hope for not only those though but hoping for the same from the rest of the roster. Yesterday they announced that added tot he line-up is Birds of Prey. I like that as well. I am pretty much a nerd with this stuff, I'm a little older so I'm still stoked about it.

When I was younger, I would have maimed my best friend to have something like this at that point. And now here we are where they are making the most fabulous films I could never dream of.

I like the Marvel movies too, im not part of that dc/ marvel hatefest happening.
Both companies are going to put out great but different types of films and that's a good thing. Dc is going to have a totally different product and I think its going to rock.

message 43: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments Big screen Birds of Prey is very cool.
Hadn't heard about that.

message 44: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments Yep, they want to put the girls out there with their own films since they have just as much to offer if not more than alot of the male heroes. Batwoman may not be that far off as well.

message 45: by Jim (new)

Jim (jkmfilms) I would love to see a Batgirl - Jenna Malone plays Barbara Gordon!

message 46: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments that sounds pretty good.

message 47: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 487 comments It's weird that I pretty much hate all DC's movie plans, but am starting to really look forward to Suicide Squad?

Can't decide if it's because the bar was set so low 'not sucking' is a huge leap in quality or maybe like marvel's Guardians, this will catch everyone off guard as something different.

I'm not going completely fanboy, as the use of 'Bohemian rhapsody' strikes me as pretty pointless and trying too hard.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I am reserving judgement. It has potential although the joker's look is a little off putting. I do like Jared Leto as an actor though.

message 49: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments I still think its going to be a really fun movie. The 'Bohemian rhapsody' thing was just a little bit of a fun play on things looking at the funnier moments mostly. I thought it was a fun trailer. Cant take these things too seriously.

There are those that think the DC universe is too dark and yet when there its a bit of levity, its not taken seriously enough. Cant have your cake and eat it too. I'm just sayin... :)

message 50: by Jeff (new)

Jeff | 425 comments The joker has a lot of different looks thru out the ages of cinema Erin, this is just another one of those looks. I didn't mind Ledger's take on the Joker, but for me, it wasn't really the joker at all. The Kid that they knocked off on Gotham was a much better joker than Ledgers character was.
Leto is a great actor and will be able to carry it really well I'm sure.
One of the best Jokers I have ever seen was on the 8 minute short that was incredibly one of the best takes on Batman I have ever seen. It also has the most insidious looking Joker as well.
I tell people about this all the time and so many have never seen this great take on the way a Batman film should be done, which is why the director made it in he first place. Check it out...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j7d3...

This is almost perfect.
