There is this one quote about which is better to be the monster or something of that sort. I do not remember. Any help?

The quote was a paraphrase of Friedrich Nietzsche's quote:"And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you" from Beyond Good And Evil

I remember Nietzsche's name being said in the first book, no? or was it some other one.. alright though, thanks very much!
