I'll probabaly be starting this tonight. I have a ton of buddy reads in February so I'm trying to stay a few days ahead to have time for them all.

Up to Ch. 3... The boy who (view spoiler)[ tried to shoot for the ring, stupid ass kid, proved ones again the old saying - "I did it all for the nookie!!!"...

Also, the way Melba describes the suit that the dude is wearing as "what passes for the really rich here, but her father wouldn't even wear it is a costume", that made a very good point of the difference in status... I liked this whole paragraph of the people who are poor but come into money and the people who are wealthy and just take it for granted... It is a very different way of thinking and life... So, I am up to Ch. 11 and really dislike Melba! I am very afraid of everything she has planned for our guys...

Up to Ch. 22... Why does his crew always jump to conclusions? Research anyone? Ever? And if it wasn't for luck, they would have been dead Looooong time ago 😈

Up to Ch. 29... Bull should not have pissed off Ashford, the stupid mo-fo... There are so many characters completely unqualified to be on a spaceship!!!

I guess I should go to sleep, but this book is good! Up to Ch 33 and we are only just over the hump... I need to know about the Ring and the Station!

Ch 36-37... I am having a hard time dealing with this existential crisis everyone seems to be going through... I understand that difficult life and death situations make people rethink their priorities in life, but the way Anna and the old priest Cortez just doesn't flow naturally for me...

Ch. 41-44... I HATE Ashford!!!!

I'm still reading but, as usual, lol, you are far ahead of me. However, this is a reread for me so I can look at your spoilers without worry. :-)

And maybe you can answer something for me that I can't remember from my first time reading this and that I didn't catch on this time through. (view spoiler)[ did Melba know that Holden was going to be present at the Ring with the rest of the flotilla? She's been working on her revenge plan for a long time so how did she know that a tv crew would hire him to take them out there? The only reason Holden even accepted the job was because the ship was on lockdown due to legal red tape from the Martians. So, how did Melba know? (hide spoiler)]

I really like Bull. I was upset over this too. Melba...ugh. She is her fathers daughter in many ways.

She first got the blind sound dude to agree to put the gadget on the ship and then pulled strings for the TV crew to get that job and gave the idea to cover Holden and the crew on the way to the Ring, so this way they would insist on flying with him... She has been spending a lot of money on all of that pre-planning... You have to admire her tenacity and fortitude...

Ah, okay. I guess I haven't gotten to the part where all that is laid out yet in my reread. (view spoiler)[I didn't even remember anything about a film crew being involved at all, lol. That is quite a bit of planning for a girl who is still probably not even in her 20s yet. (hide spoiler)]

I'm in the middle of chapter 12. It's moving along but nothing epic or unforseen has happened yet.

She is very young and obviously smart, to be able to pull this thing off... Imagine if she actually concentrates on something good...

Through chapter 23. I'm definitely enjoying the Holden chapters by far the most. In the middle Melba and Bull. I'm fairly bored with Anna to this point.
