What ending to a book made you angry?

Tom | 282 comments I ask because I had this experience over the weekend with Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. To be fair, the actual ending of the book was good, but the epilogue was (to me) so illogical and out of left field that I got angry by the time I finished it. Has anyone had a similar experience? Care to share?

I personally hated the ending to Paper Towns by John Green. I'm not sure how I was expecting it to end but it felt like it was all for nothing. I get that life doesn't always work out how you hope or expect, but this particular ending just made me feel like pulling my hair out.

Jen (notnow_imreading) | 1 comments Allegiant (book 3 in the Divergent series). Damn near threw the book across the room when I finished it. Once I got over my anger fueled rage I understood why it ended the way it did. But it was real touch and go there for a second.

Joey (gigirose) | 8 comments The series finale of the Sookie Stackhouse books. In an effort to end the series for good, the author made some very strange choices. The ending was rushed and forced and completely out of character for the lead, Sookie. I honestly felt like I had wasted years of my life reading these books only to be betrayed in the end.

Tom | 282 comments @Desirai - I know it's been a while but I don't recall your having that... extreme of a reaction to Paper Towns? For my part, I felt it was the proper ending.

@Jen - Yes, that's the type of anger I'm talking about - the visceral response that screams "This is BULLSHIT!" when it happens.

@Gigi - Wow, it's one thing when it's the ending of a book, but quite another when it's the end of a series.

@Tom
I really disliked Margo. I probably made that clearer than my dislike for the ending.
