I'm not sure how to use this site, but I did manage to add wonderful Morgan's picture. If I ever get one of me that I like, I'll change it,

Are you reading The White House book?

Morgan is a cute. I forget whether boy or girl.

In terms of needing an invite I think that would have been what level of secrecy you setup initially. As long as people have to be your friend that is fine and less cumbersome.

Morgan is a boy. Hence the blue bow.

message 12: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn | 31 comments I have been trying to post on Dragi's thread and each post has been eaten by Mamazon with an "error" has occurred and they are working on it. The next post I tried showed posted but did not appear on the thread. Will check back in a bit.

message 13: by Margaret (new)

Margaret E | 5 comments Me too. I'm guessing that Amazon's programmers are working on something to "improve" the experience, but the problems with the discussion forums are extremely unsettling .

I didn't have a problem at 4:30 in the morning.

Margaret, you are the 4th person I've met from SD. Are there many left? ;-)

I'm not actually from South Dakota, but from southwestern Minnesota. (Goodreads apparently "guessed" my location but they were a little off.) But I do know plenty of South Dakotans. Sioux Falls is a very nice little city.

Piney told me Aunty Ammy, in her limitless wisdom, is closing discussion forums. Bah!

I have not been faithful patron of our Shack lately, but I hope I will be forgiven (but not forgotten - I could not resist (o: )

Bnz a.k.a. Dragi

P.S. The guy who drew my profile pic claims that's really what I look like

Welcome. Crab Shack was never just for regulars and neither is this site. Don't lurk. We welcome your posts as long as you're not a Russian bot. ;-)

message 21: by Spartygirl (new)

Spartygirl | 2 comments Not a Russian bot. Just a reader who works in a library and ruled by a cranky 14-year-old cat. Thanks for the welcome.

Hi Dragi! I had a nice short visit to Croatia. Only visited Split for a day and then part of Hvar.

MA, I go to Community and then Crab Shack. It doesn't seem to be a problem.

Hi Dave/ Lloyd I don't think this discussion has high security.
The thing I have trouble getting used to is the repost of whatever is being replied to. Also since I tend to get here through the notification link I end up at the end of the thread rather than at the first new post.

Teddygrace | 3 comments Aka teddygrace in the "other" place.

So glad to find this here as well as a couple others and the Kindle Kitchen has a great Fbook page.

As far as ways of getting to this page quickly, I just bookmarked it.

message 35: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 68 comments is it possible to have a football thread and a politics thread as well as a general chat thread since we have a whole forum? I'm not a big fan of American football, so I tend to skip all those bits. Now if you want to start a thread about what the rest of the world calls football....I'm in

I just suggested on http://www.yuble.com/amazon/forum/ind... that we use GoodReads for books and the other link for everything else.

That's cool for those who want to, but I'll be here only

You can go over to the Consumer Reports website and get a temporary membership for like 5 bucks for a month and see what they have to say.

message 41: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn | 31 comments I actually have a CR membership. I just dread doing the research and then having to shell out $$$ for something I just can't get all that excited about.

The Nightingale is on sale for 1.99. I thought it was very good. https://www.amazon.com/Nightingale-No...

Love the front load washer! What don't you like? Recently wandered thru the refrigerators at Sears and the ones with some features I wanted are HUGE, so measure your space. Hardly any would fit where mine is now. My neighbors actually chopped off part of a top cabinet to make theirs fit.

Have you been over to Kindle Kitchen Friends on Facebook yet? I know you could get a lively discussion of fridges there.

message 46: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn | 31 comments Oh, where to begin with the front load washer :). I am height challenged and moving the wet clothes from washer to dryer results in half of them landing on the floor. Can't put a basket in front of the washer because then I can reach in to get the clothes (remember the height challenged part?).

Will have to check out the Kindle Kitchen Friends and see what they offer.

Thanks, Carol. I seem to think I have it but will double check. I just finished The Neon Lawyer. I enjoyed it but it was a very familiar script - a la Grisham.

Some of the new top load ones would challenge you as well. Check and make sure you can reach the bottom of the drum. I'm 5'6" and I couldn't reach to bottom of some of the ones I looked at

Put the basket on top of the washer? Stand in the basket? My w & d are the kind that can go side by side or stack and I have them stacked so I open both doors, pull out wet clothes from the washer, and toss them up into the dryer.

But I do NOT like having pre-programmed or pre-set cycles or whatever they're called. If I want to dry on HI, what biz is it of the dryer to tell me that will be 30 min? If I want to run it for 15 mn, I have to set anotherr timer for 15, then go interrupt the pre-set 30 when the timer goes off.
