Carwen pulled back on the bow and launched the arrow into a bulls eye. Her anger at the leaders fuelling her shot.
X looks up to look at the girl, who seemed to glow from anger. Feeling curious, X walks up to her without her noticing.
She pulls the arrow back again and takes a second shot. Hitting the bulls eye again. Her anger was starting to deplete and turn into sadness and devastation.
Surprised by the sudden movement, X stumbles backwards , tripping over and landing on the floor behind her. Giving away his position. Not exactly the clumsiness you would expect from a trained assassin...!
Carwen quickly turns around to the sound of someone falling over. She try's to stifle a smile but fails.
Getting up and brushing his clothes he answers curtly "why wouldn't I be?". He lent her a hand to help her up.
X pulls her up and eyes her suspiciously. She didn't seem at all threatening, making X think he could beat her in a fight easily. Her honey brown eyes stared into his awkwardly.
Carwen looks up his black eyes looked her up and down. Assessing. She stuck out a hand trying to ease the silence. "I'm Carwen."
X stares at the hand and then accepts the offer. Her hand dwarfed by his. Feeling as though it would be customary to offer something back, he says simply "X".
Her hand felt tiny in his warm rough hands. "I've never seen you around here before." She said quietly.
She smiled one of her mega watt smiles. "Okay X. What brings you to the Training Pavilion?" She asks.
Instead of answering her, X simply reached behind him and revealed a knife. Without looking away from her face, or moving his body in any way, X threw the knife and it embedded itself into the very centre of the two arrows Carwen had shot.
Carwen gulped. Then sighed, she needed to be more like him, she needed to be able to kill. "You don't need to train very much." She smiled slightly but wrapped her arms around her small waist.
X smirked and said "no-one is perfect, especially not me. I definitely need to practice. Since I got here I haven't been putting as much effort as I should have been in!"
She raised her eyebrows. "You don't need to tell me that." Carwen mutters and then picks up her bow and arrows.
X blinks at her apparent annoyance and then bends down to help her. Just because your a serial killer, doesn't mean you can get away with not being a gentleman!
She smiles gratefully at him. "Thank you." She said and set up another arrow. Aiming just above his knife she fires and hit's it dead on. She turns to see his dark eyes watching.
A slight smile taints his lips and he wonders, how did this girl do it? For the whole of the life he can remember- since he was 9 years old, he had never smiled.
She smiles even wider when she see's his crooked genuine smile cross his face. "So, do you like it here?"
X shuffles on his feet, not wanting to ask what made her face droop like a sad puppy, but when the silence started getting awkward, he knew he had to. "What is it?".
"Huh, oh...um...it's nothing." She said tears building in her eyes. She reached for another arrow.
She paused in grabbing her arrow and watched him punching the bag. She shook herself out of her stupor. She picked up the arrow and lit the tip of it on fire by accident. She pulled back and lit the target on fire. "Shoot!"
X stopped his powerful attack on the bag and, hardly out of breath, watches the girl as she lit the the target alight.
"What do I do?!" She panicked but then realised that she was a fire wielder. She cut the fire and fell to her knees with a huff. She's starting to understand why they might get rid of her.
Carwen looked over at X who was watching her weirdly she bent her head and looked down at the ground and sighed.
X saw Carwen look over to him. He felt extremely awkward. This is why he stays away from people! Sighing, X makes his way over to her and sits on the ground next to her, looking at her from the corner of his eye.
She peered over at him. "I'm sorry." She whispered. Then her eye widened and she grabbed on to his shirt tightly. "Please don't tell the leaders!" She said urgently
She clawed at his shirt like she didn't hear him. Her eyes wide and scared like an animal that got stuck at the headlights. "Don't tell them, don't tell the leaders of the camp. Please oh please don't."
X grabbed her wrists and held them still. He stared into her eyes intensely and repeated himself slowly, "Tell the leaders what?".
"That I did that!" She shook in his arms. "Don't tell them that I still can't control my own power. They will get rid of me. They'll leave me." Tears streamed silently down her face, she didn't even notice.
X lifted his index finger and cut off the stream of tears coming from her eyes. Then he looked into her eyes and said firmly "You are one of the first people I have spoken with for a while. I wont grass on you." He stood up, dragging her up with him.
Looking down at her hands she thought about how different she was acting from her usual self. She watched him carefully and he seemed to be telling the truth. She hugged him around the middle and whispered into his chest a quiet 'thank you.'
X stiffens as soon as she put her arms around him. He heard her whisper 'thank you' at him. Although he had no idea why she was thanking him! Stiffly, X patted her back two times, almost robotically.
When she realised she was hugging a virtually random stranger she retracted her arms back to her sides. "Sorry." She said. "Again." She added after she saw his strangely calm expression on his face.
"Uh...your just so calm even though a strange girl just attacked you into a hug and spilled a bunch of crazy words on top of the fact that she's crying." She shrugged.
